Yes I know that the USA is a republic. The point being that the federal government needs to ensure the validity of the elections. And it needs to put a stop to foreign powers from trying to influence such. Right now it is the Russians. Will we be so willing to overlook if say the Chinese or another foreign government tries and does the exact same thing?

Are you willing to gamble on that, or would you rather say this was the first time such was found out and decided that it should not happen again and to that end that the federal government will do everything to prevent and take such incursions seriously from now on, to include finding, blocking and stopping such from happening?

In what ways are the Russians manipulating elections? So far, all I've heard about are fake news stories and Twitter tricks.

They have been working on Remote Mind Control theory for decades, but I don't think Russia can affect enough minds to manipulate the results of a large election.

There's also new information tying that Democrat-fueled "Trump Loves Putin" report, with sleepy Diane Feinstein releasing the Fusion GPS testimony yesterday, without authorization from the committee Chairman, Chuck Grassley.

Senior Democratic officials in the Senate, frustrated by what they consider a Republican campaign to discredit the law enforcement and intelligence agencies investigating the president, cleared their members to release the interview transcript of one of the Russia investigation’s most sensitive witnesses... and, separately, to publish a report detailing the disinformation and intimidation tactics the Kremlin deploys against democracies globally.

When Senator Diane Feinstein told CNN today that she was "forced" to release the Fusion GPS testimony, she was telling the truth. That "force" most likely came from the all-powerful Chuck E. Schumer.

Bahaha. So what now releasing information is bad again? Please Grassley was being a partisan hack in not releasing the testimony and Feinstien who was forced to release it not by Schumer but by her constitutes back home who think she is being so easy on the GOP.

If that is the case, then perhaps we should take a key from some of the European countries. Take France, there is a law that pretty much cuts off all of the debate and discussion the day before the election and ends after the polls close.

But here is the problem with the 2016 election. Both sides, the Republicans and the Democrats, had people in the campaign that were compromised by foreign powers, several of whom, by legal definition and action were foreign agents, working for and with another country, and participating in the election. And what is worse, is that those individuals never revealed how deep that they were involved and did not register as such. That shows direct influence via a foreign power.

That in itself is and should be heavily prosecuted. It has thrown the entire government and country into a split that is going to take years to figure out and clean up that mess.

Except when Obama and the dems were laughing at romney for saying Russia was a threat and selling them rights to uranium.

Add in Hillary wanted to take the US back to the cold war where Russia and US basically had their nukes on auto launch...

Trump wants to treat Russia as any other country and so he is colluding. I was not a President Clinton fan, but what did they get him on for his suppose impeachment? Whitewater..no... Making a couple of millions on a 10,000 bet in the futures market...nope They got him on not telling the truth as to whether he screwed an intern....lol really?

This is what we got today...nothing, but if you grill people long enough you build a case for perjury..that is it..get as many people on perjury as you can. Doesn't need to be anything dealing with Russia...

Releasing..leaking..There are proper and improper times and methods for doing both.

What I think is that counter-releases/leaks are about to occur, from one or more of the 5 active investigations of Hillary, and the people in HER orbit.

It would be up to the GOP controlled agencies to keep selectively leaking things for political reasons instead of releasing it all like Feinstien did.

Diane Feinstein released/leaked just one piece of evidence gathered by her committee. She may release more if Chuck Schumer forces her to.

She may release more if Grassley continues to back track his own promises. Grassley said he would release it with the redactions Fusion GPS asked for then did nothing but release bits and pieces to right-wing sources. I have no idea why you are angry at Feinstein for doing something Grassley should have done weeks ago.

Propaganda is a powerful tool, used to plant an idea into the mind of a person. Planting of a story here, or embellishing a story there, even finding out what people believe and then planting a few things where someone picks it up and then turns around and makes it seem bigger and far more. And with the computer, most experts can look and see, and ultimately determine where coding came from or even where stories did. The process is not easy, but anyone can do it by checking and double checking of where things originate from. And many intelligence agencies in the US all say the same thing Russia interfered in the election, by mass/blanket spamming the web and other sources with false information.

Now, here is the thing: No one will ever find a smoking gun that points to Putin. The evidence will only go so far, but end as the person or persons who tied this all together, are either dead, or are out of the reach of the US. So all that remains would be for those on the US side to be investigated.

Interesting thing is that there are those who were on the Trump campaign, advisers and such working with Trump to get him elected who were compromised. And the US counter intelligence has seen such before and knows how this game is played.
