North Korea in breakthrough agreement to attend Winter Olympics

There will almost certainly be more North Korean cheerleaders than athletes, but the 2018 Winter Olympics will include a delegation from the country that has provoked global anger through its nuclear development program.

Only two North Koreans have formally qualified for the Pyeongchang games in South Korea, a pair of figure skaters who trained in Montreal.

But in rare talks on the border between the two countries Tuesday, North Korea said it would send them to South Korea to compete, along with a high-level delegation, an art troupe, cheerleaders and a Taekwondo demonstration team, an ensemble that suggests Pyongyang wants to show the world a sunny new face.

www.theglobeandmail.com...

Trump, being the VSG that he is has managed to get Rocketman to blink.

North Korea participating in the Olympics in South Korea is seen as a gesture of peace. They've agreed to halt all military drills during the Olympics, and apparently some families separated by the war will be able to be reunited, which has happened twice before.

Waiting to see what kinda negative spin the Libs and MSM will come up with.

Trump brings peace on the Peninsula? WTF, I hate Peace now.

Well I don’t see how this is credited to Trump but hey, why not.

Not arguing that this supposed symbol of peace by way of sending in a few participants to the games in the south should be looked at as a sort of nice gesture, I think we should obviously be very skeptical of the supposed intentions. Overall though this is a good thing.

What is a VSG? Viagra sales guide?

It's generally common practice to spell out an acronym the first time and have the acronym you intend to use in parentheses right next to it.

Very stable genius.

Our new friend has taken it upon himself to be a resident Trump propagandist, and so he is using the buzzwords/terms that put Trump in a favorable light.

This weeks phrase is VSG.

It’s actuality against T&C’s not to do this. However it is generally overlooked when the acronym is in heavy use around the boards and it is likely that pretty much everyone will know what it is. Not saying that this is the case here but just in general.

Has he ?
North Korea want the prestige of being at the Winter Olympics so they are offering concessions to the South for that to happen , this is typical behavior by the North and shouldn't be seen as anything more than that.

Any reduction of tension is welcome but there is no change in the bigger picture as far as I can see.

Ah, thank you. I didn't realize it was actually part of the T&C. I thought it was just common courtesy.

I should probably get around to reading those one day.

Can you show me where in the T&C's it says this?
I must have missed it the first time I read them...

I believe VSG is an acronym for Veritable Stupidity Genome, a rare genetic abnormality that may effect cognitive functions.

Research into the cause of this defect is in it's early days but it has often been misdiagnosed as SMS or 'small man's syndrome.' But I wholeheartedly think that sport and friendly rivalries can bring nations together as it has done in the past, not with some illogical boasting like #Ididit #Itwasallmyidea #Isingelehandedlysavedtheworld.

Yeah?

Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG) is what I got off Google...

Which I suppose could work but North Koreans or not over-eating, unless Trump is eating too much McDonald's?

If Trump thinks this is progress, he's made a grave miscalculation. North Korea is famous for coming to "talks" every few years that amount to nothing. They're never going to give up their nuclear program this close to the finish line. This is likely just a way to stall the US from taking military action while they finish perfecting their missiles.

I know, I know. "But we have to give diplomacy a chance". We've given diplomacy a chance for decades. They will not make a deal to give up the nuclear program. We have a rapidly closing window of opportunity where we can take military action. Once they have fully operational nuclear missiles, there is no military option anymore and we just have to live with the hope Un is smart enough not to start a war. If someone repeatedly screws you but then keeps saying they're willing to talk, how long do you keep falling for it and being taken advantage of? At some point you have to say enough is enough.
