They were granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS) after earthquakes rocked the Central American country in 2001.

Salvadoreans now have until 2019 to leave or face deportation, unless they find a legal way to stay.

This is the biggest immigration-related story in the Trump era, so I don't see why it hasn't been posted yet. This is one of Trump's major accomplishments in terms of keeping his promises.

My guess is that Trumpers don't want to draw attention to this news because it makes Trump look heartless. I don't see how that can be hidden at this point.

It seems like this very stable genius has a heart of stone sometimes. That's what it's going to take to end DACA.

I think this is a good day for Trumpers.

Everyone in the world can't live in the US, even if that's the "fair" thing to do.

Life isn't fair, and while it's sad it is reality.

Temporary means TEMPORARY! My guess anyone who claims Trump as heartless doesn't understand how to look at things objectively.

Nice find OP. S&F

You know it's crappy they were displaced in the first place, but as "temporary protected status" people, I think 17 years is more than enough time to seek naturalisation or find a way to get home comfortably. I have little sympathy for any who haven't managed to get their affairs in order within a two decade time span.

I am not a Trump fan, but..

If they are there illegally, I don't see the issue.

Hell in 17 years they could have got a decent job, banked a bunch of money and then taken a barrel of money home with them and lived like kings.

Let's face it though, non of them planned for that, since non of them ever thought they would have to go home. Our immigration enforcement is a joke.

Edit: Was a joke, was.

He did this to the Haitians too, and their earthquake happened sooner so their country is less rebuilt and they had less time to make permanent arrangements through legal means.

I fail to see how this is somehow more heartless than what he did to the Haitians, and *they* had nearly a decade to secure some sort of permanent legal status for themselves.

These people had nearly twice that time.

I think the MSM is afraid to carry the story because it would appeal to his base. I know I am happy he is keeping his promises to the American Public. It has been awhile since a President respected his campaign promises.

What about the kids who were born here?

You can think with your brain or you can confuse feels for thoughts by going with your heart... at the end of the day, borders mean something, immigration laws exist for a reason, temporary means temporary, and we legal citizens are tired of watching the rules bent or flat out ignored while our borders are treated as inconveniences for we residents and little more.

A "good day" will be the day DACA is officially dead in all of its forms and the mass deportations have begun.

They're welcome to return when they are 18 and independent.

As if we have anything to do with what goes in the news. You would think we own CNN... errr every damn news station out there but FOX. lol

Seriously?

But yeah... I'm feeling pretty good. 18 years seems like a great amount of time to pick up some very useful trade skills to bring back to your country, wouldn't you think?

Wouldn't the children were born here then fall under the DACA immunity, or whatever it's called?

Buh Bye. Come back when you're old enough to support yourself on your own since you're a citizen but sorry.... your parents are not.
