Australia mines and sells Uranium to other countries to use in their Nuclear Power Plants. Meanwhile Australia, the flattest most stable country on Earth with no earthquakes; doesn't have Nuclear Power. The real kicker: Australia then imports NUCLEAR WASTE back from other countries to store.

The people who have a fit over nuclear waste don't seem to realize we store everyone else's crap. Not to mention we have the worlds largest uranium reserves... there's so much potential to make our nation a powerhouse capable of thrusting us into the future but instead we're content living with a crappy grid which is constantly on the verge of failing and every summer we wonder if it will be capable of meeting energy demands. Utterly useless!

Nuclear energy only possible if you have enough cooling facilities. In india rivers and ocean practically boils down to this.
A tree hugging nation like Australia never allow such a distraction.

As a fellow libertarian , I would say that the solution is to ignore government regulations in this regard and seek alternatives - like growing your own. The Hemp Embassy in Nimbin will ship seeds to any state in Australia. They're a good bunch of folks in that part of Aus, let me give you the tip. They also ship oil. It's worth the effort to drive there - only one way in and one way out.

Google Nimbin, I was there this time last year - unbelievable.

As to Aus government, they're simply doing what they do best so as to stay relevant like all the others - imposing pathetic laws and regulations on their own citizens, then setting about imposing themselves into every facet of our lives.

You lucky, lucky people. In the Uk petrol runs at approx £6 a gallon, that's $8.14 US and $ 10.35 Aus.
Trouble with these silly laws? Keep bothering your MP, get as many people you know to bother their MPs. Keep at it and they'll get the impression that their jobs will be on the line come voting day.
