EQ California

Just had an earthquake in northern california at approx. 2:40am PST.

My buddy felt it in Santa Cruz which is quite far, about 75 miles from the epicenter.


Preliminary reports according to usgs is a 4.4 mag epicentered in Berkeley.

Edit: secondary report showing 4.7 magnitude.

I slept through it...one of my room mates felt it....it was centered on the hayward fault

felt it strong here in alameda, scared the bejesus out of me. knocked a very small number of things off shelves, mostly light things.

i'm new to california, so this is only the second quake i've ever been in... can't say i'm a fan. i finally gave up on getting back to sleep.

do we think this is a foreshock for something bigger? no aftershocks yet, not that i've noticed.

I made a thread that said a big earthquake was coming this December, and member Sapjacks said this...

We might be sightly off, but we're onto something, the moon's gravitational pull causes earthquakes, and while it it's not the major one I predicted, it still is a 'good one' as the moon moved from perigee to apogee.
