It is difficult to Let 2017 ends without give tribute to the greatest performer ever born in America, Wladziu Valentino Liberace, who died in Palms Springs California 30 years ago.

Born in Wisconsin by 1919 from a workers class parents of Italian and Polish Ancestry, he was a child prodigy, developing a stellar career as Pianist, singer, dancer and actor.

His effort along four decades of immense fame for popularize Classical compossers, as well as to elevate to classic standards popular music in the show scene deserves recognition.

Well, you assume he was the vector of such infection, how are you so sure of that? That hypothesis has not been fully substanciated.

As matter of fact the Lawsuits based on it against him were settled down for juicy monetary compensations, why if was so clear the responsibility involved on them?

He could be the victim not only of to be infected in first term but also to be extorted by his executioner, who might have compensated him and the other two innocent victims of the situation.

Liberace had along all his public life a really tied work agenda, he was not the person to live a promiscuous life, there was No time for that.

Anyone of those young men could certainly have transmitted the Aids to him, the one that got more money from him was a confessed drug addict, aids can be acquired through drugs addiction, exchanging injectors with not sterilized needles not just only sex.

To me, a guy who can't tell you squat about concertos or classical composers, Liberace was an old dude who had a parlor act adults chuckled about in Vegas when I was a little kid then a running gag reference for Adam Sandler on Saturday Night Live humor songs.

Well, he came into scene clearly before many of the people you are mentioning, they were not even yet born by that time.

Liberace opened a path that others walked after him, that is not necessarily bad after all, but his legacy in promoting culture is undisputable.

Nice men got aids too you know. It's not like it's a disease against evil or something.
What an ugly thing to say. Lots of gay men were lost in the early days of aids because they did not know about the disease. It was discovered when a lot of men started dying in the early eighties.
Liberace was not a pedifile. He was a gay man. He was with adults.

Where do you get that he gave young people aids. He did not have sex with children and like I said the disease was spread pretty quickly in those days because they didn't know what it was or how it spread. He sure didn't give it to people on purpose.

Thanks for the beautiful music, and think I will revisit this thread again tomorrow evening, when I come home from the pub after the New Year!

I was diagnosed with HIV in 2004 (although I sex with men, in South Africa it was also pretty much a heterosexual epidemic).
Been on ARVs for two years, and my viral load is now undetectable (never shied away from discussing or posting my pics in the appropriate forums on ATS).
Been celibate since my diagnosis, and totally open, although I had a few romantic flings with both men and women since then.

I'm still very interested in the early days of when the virus became apparent, so I like doccies and clips on, for example, Rock Hudson, Liberace or Freddie Mercury.
No proof I've seen that they ever gave HIV to anybody else, and the stigma at that time was indescribable.
