Well just when you thought that it wasnt possible to order any more fighters Qatar has announced yet another fighter contract, this time for at least 36 F-15QA. Full details of the contract and final equipment haven't been announced but this is the third major fighter contract let by the Gulf state in the last 12-18 months. Interestingly they have split across three suppliers and it makes you wonder if alliances are changing in the Gulf region given the quick sale of F-15's to Qatar.FG Article

Despite the recent noise in the MSM about dissent in the Arab ranks, Qatar remains deeply embedded in the "Coalition" of Arab states allied with the US and EU (NATO).

After all, they are buying up squadrons of Western fighters not only from the uS (F 15 Eagles) but France and the EU as well, all members of NATO.

What do they need all those attack aircraft for?

The next push to "Regime Change" Syria and eventually, Iran.

Thats what we are supposed to believe. The Kingdom of Saud is firmly on NATO's leash. One proof is they don't behave 'psychotic' or 'hostile' towards Israel, at all... Only the nations targeted by the West.

hmmm

Except not all of Saudi Arabia is on the leash of the House of Saud. Or the West tolerates this support of Wahhabis for the perception and benefits of playing along with the West in the main.

They can't be a trusted Ally if they are involved in a civil war that might overthrow them, so they don't poke the bear?

Could be a tactical move by Quatar, buying from your bigger friends you can ask them for help should your new toys be used in combat?

It's an attempt by the Middle East to make a NATO style alliance. They established the new alliance a few years ago and just named the first commander. A dozen older attack aircraft aren't going to contribute much to the alliance.

The 'tactical move' is more political. Feign division amongst the Arab states so people want think they work for NATO.
It worked on you.
