It was reported that one of the North Korean soldiers, who defected to South Korea, had anthrax antibodies in his system.

One of the North Korean soldiers who defected to the South in 2017 was found to have antibodies in his bloodstream, a sign Pyongyang possesses anthrax, the acute disease caused by bacteria.

According to an article today by CNN, North Korea is spending millions, not only on the development of ICBM nuclear missiles, but biological weapons as well. Many feel that North Korea's development of biological weapons is being "carried out in secret behind closed-doors" in pesticide facilities.

Previous US administrations have also accused Pyongyang of developing biological weapons, with a 2004 report from the Deputy Director of National Intelligence saying that after its accession to the BWC in 1987, North Korea continued to pursue research in this area.

"North Korea has the scientists and facilities for producing biological products and microorganisms, and has the ability to produce traditional infectious biological warfare agents or toxins," the report said.

In 2015, North Korean state media published photos of leader Kim Jong Un touring a pesticide facility which experts argued was capable of producing large amounts of biological weapons. "Analysis of the images reveals that the facility -- the Pyongyang Bio-technical Institute -- can produce regular, military-sized batches of biological weapons, specifically anthrax," Melissa Hanham, a North Korea expert at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies, wrote at the time.

"The North Korean assertion that the plant is intended to produce insecticides is an old and well-used cover for a biological weapons program," Hanham said, adding the publication of the photos of Kim's tour "may have been intended as a veiled threat to South Korea and the United States."

www.cnn.com...

This is alarming, because many experts think North Korea already possesses thousands of tons of anthrax. Without antibiotics or a vaccination, anthrax has a mortality rate of 80% within 24 hours. Many think North Korea is scheming of an alternate way to cause catastrophic mortality, by loading ICBMs with anthrax. Could they be unsure if they can successfully deliver a nuclear payload to the United States? Are they already administrating anthrax vaccines to their troops in preparation of biological weapon use?

North Korea has repeatedly threatened the U.S. and its military bases with nuclear attack. Now it might be threatening an anthrax attack as well. North Korea may have anywhere between 2,500 and 5,000 tons of chemical weapons on hand, and it has the capability to produce biological weapons like anthrax and smallpox, according to South Korea.

Popular Mechanics wrote about the reported anthrax missile tests: “If war begins, North Korea’s only real option is to attempt to shock the U.S. and its regional allies into not responding with a regime-ending campaign” (emphasis added throughout). Hence the bioweapons threat. Biological attacks are more difficult to monitor than nuclear attacks, and they can also have widespread effects if they are not detected and contained quickly. cnn wrote: “Bioweapons pose a threat that is real and tangible from any number of sources—and easily as lethal, potentially far broader and as irreversible as the outcome of any nuclear attack by a determined enemy.”

Experts are aware of this threat, but are unsure if there's a way to prevent the anthrax bacteria from burning up upon reentry from space.

North Korea’s neighbors fear Pyongyang is conducting illegal biological weapons tests to see if anthrax-laden warheads can be loaded onto its missiles, the Sun of the UK reported.

Japan’s Asahi paper recently reported that North Korea — which has demonstrated the theoretical capacity of striking the US mainland with its missiles — had begun to test loading anthrax onto them, the International Business Times reported.

The report said the US is aware of the tests, which are meant to ascertain whether the anthrax bacteria could survive the sizzling re-entry from space.

I don't know what I dread more...our country facing a devastating nuclear attack or a biological attack. I certainly hope cooler heads prevail.

I honestly don't think they (NK) would waste an ICBM with even less potential than in trying to launch one with nuclearization. Instead what I think they would do, is release a North Korean, under the auspice of defecting, who is infected, to infect others along the way.

My nightmare is a virus like the Rage virus being engineered and released upon a population,as in 28 Days Later.Maybe something like that already exists, well something similar anyway. This method of delivery of anthrax seems very unreliable.

I just think that wouldn't be grandiose enough for Kim Jong-un.

I don't think you're thinking that one through. Imagine the DPRK press after a (imaginary) successful mass attack. He would show his people (not the world) that he can reach anyone, anywhere because he is so powerful.

I agree! I was referring to the other poster who stated they may "release a North Korean, under the auspice of defecting, who is infected, to infect others along the way." Kim Jong-un wouldn't be impressed with that method of delivery...he'd want something much more terrifying.

Also...if that were the case, why not lie to his people about a small scale attack that already occurred? I think even the DPRK needs a little more substance than just a fanciful BS story.

Considering the propaganda, you'll think they already think he can.

Doubtful. The people in North Korea are not as stupid as we would believe. They just don't have the luxury of stating what they truly believe.

Because it would be easily debunked by people who know better?

Right. Precisely my point. They need to know something actually happened.

It wouldn't surprise me if Kim Jong is experimenting with anthrax already. He is smarter than people are giving him credit for. That's the worry. We laugh and joke about how old his weapons are, but we truely don't know what mad scheme he has planned.

It's frightening to even think that this could be true.

Us soldiers are routinely vaccinated for biological agents such as anthrax. It doesn’t surprise me that other countries do the same. I’m guessing that the MSM has grabbed this nugget of info and has run with it.

Agreed. This is fake hype. Fear porn. Another carrot on a stick.

Or better yet, an indicator that the masses still buy BS by the truckload.

It's complete propaganda.

They are trying to fabricate and justify a war against a tiny little nation that doesn't stand a chance.

"They" have nothing to gain by a quick one strike war. The fabled Military Industrial Complex can't gear up munitions if one side gets insta annhililated, no prolonged war. The crackpot theories go out the window with a US preemptive strike, those that don't want the preemptive strike are where lies the real conspiracies.

Well, here's another "shocking" headline that came out 35 minutes ago. I hope none of us have to eat crow in the very near future.

North Korea may launch another missile and weaponize anthrax on its next ICBM

The DPRK may be preparing to launch its new HS-15 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) two-stage missile to put a satellite into orbit soon.

North Korea has been conducting testing on a biological weaponized anthrax virus warhead for its long-range ICBM program.

The most recent intelligence gleaned from open sources suggests the DPRK may be preparing to launch its new HS-15 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) two-stage missile to put a satellite into orbit soon.

This new suggestion of an orbital attempt is significant since, if an object were boosted into orbit atop an HS-15, it would overfly Japan and likely parts of the U.S. during its orbit.

Russia’s Olympic team has been barred from the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The country’s government officials are forbidden to attend, its flag will not be displayed at the opening ceremony and its anthem will not sound.

Any athletes from Russia who receive special dispensation to compete will do so as individuals wearing a neutral uniform, and the official record books will forever show that Russia won zero medals.

Ok so the Olympics are in SK and Russia is banned?
And we're supposedly on the verge of war with the super evil NK?

It's like a script.
How do you think it will play out though?
