As the title states. I got this from my father's wife, who got from a neighbor of a blah blah.. It's ridiculously easy to make, cooks quickly, and tastes amazing. Perhaps better as a poor (or cheap) man's (or bachelor's) cobbler, or as I like to call it, the recipe of Ones (1s).

Grease a 9x9 (or 8x8) glass dish, preheat oven to 350..

1 stick butter melted
1 c AP flour
1 c sugar
1 c milk
3 t baking powder

1 c fresh berries (blueberry, raspberry, blackberry)

Mix well all ingredients except the fruit, and pour in the 9x9 dish. Layer fruit on top. Bake 45-50 or until golden brown on top, and center is done (toothpick inserted into center comes out clean).

Enjoy.

You are supposed to cut it into square pieces and put it on a plate. It looks like your dog got into it and ripped it apart.

I hate to be "that guy" but the member in question has a point. I have no idea what happened and Gordon Ramsay I am not but....and I'm trying to be objective here...

It looks like you had an accident with an oven dish and then tore a hole through the time-space continuum to cover your culinary failure while astounding all on-lookers in a vain attempt to escape the crime scene. I'm sure it "tastes great" though.

Damn, I wish you would've posted this beforehand. I could've given you a bombastic recipe. No offence, but your crust is way heavy handed. Sharp shooting, physics, sex, pastries and politics. My dojo...

So you pour the batter in and put the fruit on top and it comes out like that???

I always put the fruit in and put the batter on top?

Wow.

Looks delicious!!

Yep! The fruit sinks down as it cooks.

Looks delicious!!

Thanks! For as simple as it is, it's awesome.

That's, not a cobbler. That's nearly an upside down cake. Cobbler resembles a pie like pastry. Lighter crust. I promise. I've been baking for 20 years

See, I've never been the type of person to add ice cream/whip cream to my pie/cake/cobbler. But to each his or her own.

And thanks! It's surprisingly good for its simplicity.

Yeah, it's more cake-ish. But it's simple, and delicious. That's why I call it a poor/cheap/bachelor's cobbler.

No need to be a pedantic about it, geez.

I just realized and remembered, I'm a Southerner. Nearly went ape# over pastry aesthetics. Regional, cultural differences. Yikes, 2018 I will let a tart resemble a Shepard pie. New Years Resolution. Therapeutics

Hey...it's definitely COBBLER to some of us. Maybe it depends on where you're from? I'm from waaaaaaay down Dixie way and this is DEFINITELY my kinda cobbler. Just for the sake of being different I do make the kind you referenced, even doing lattice work with strips of dough on top...and I've been baking for 50+ years...heh heh heh

Didn't mean to be #ish. I'm a Taurean Southern Female and I take cobbler very seriously. Sorry to be a dick. I truly live for pastries. The filling looks pretty solid. But you make the crust buttery and light like pie crust. Brown sugary flakey. The crust is suppose to melt in your mouth. And your a bachelor? I have an amazing red velvet cake from scratch for New Years and a beautiful key lime white chocolate cake recipe for ST Patrick's day that will have you simply baptized in orgasms.

We make one almost like that, but it calls for a can of pie filling. It has almost the same ingredients, except it has less sugar because the canned pie filling already has some sugar. I bet with your recipe it would be better since it uses real fruit.

Both my daughters eat their cakes and cobblers like you guys do. My wife and I must be old fashioned or something, we like things neat and organized. I think the daughters do this to be defiant of our ways. Cripes, they are thirty three and thirty five already, how long does that defiance crap last?

I was born in South Carolina, raised in Alabama, Texas California and Europe. I wasnt trying to be a dick. Just realized how aggressive I sounded over pastry. My bad. But I was highly legit regarding the critic. If your making the crust from scratch, doing so correctly. It shouldn't be so heavy. And I'm 32. I'm one of a handful of millenials who bakes from scratch, and bakes food that's not wheat grass bs. No offense. But damn.

My ABSOLUTE favorite cobbler! Only 2 little differences...I put the butter into the baking dish and let it melt in the oven instead of having a pot to clean from melting it seperately.

Our favorite filling is to mix up my mom's cherry pie recipe and use that instead of fresh fruit, especially since quality fresh fruit isn't available all year.

Thank you so much for posting it!!

Discussing food lately is a nice break from all the politics we have been cursed to discuss for way too long. Now, if we could get some doom porn it would be nice.
