Watching Mark Hamill talking about his character, almost brought a tear to my eye....almost.

Actually, Im proud to say, I was the target audience when the first movie came out......1977, I was 18.
I asked 2 girls out from work to see the movie, they both said yes....damn......so I had to go and watch it twice
.....enjoyed it both times.

I even went to see Corvette Summer, the next year.......oh well....Perhaps Mark and Disney can do a sequel for that too?
Use a ZL1, convert it to Right Hand Drive
.

I think the biggest problem for us target audience for the original movies (remembering Im not form the USA), was......
What the Hell happened to Luke Skywalkers face!!!!!!!!!!

From the first movie cute face......to....well someone that "sort of" looked like Luke.

I never knew about this car accident business until 30 years later........perhaps it was knowledge in the US.

By the third movie, and the Ewoks Adventures etc.....we had moved on....Most of the 80s had some great movies.....and the DriveIns still show old soft porn R rated stick movies as double and triple features........Star Wars was just a nice fading memory, and a "Oh not another one" feeling....Then VHS came out and you know the rest of history........

Dude, we're those girls hot? I'm guessing you didn't get any as you enjoyed the movie a little too much.

It's funny how that works, I have similar memories, the girls at the time we're just OK, but now I realize some of those girls were hot as, at least now I understand what it means when they say wisdom comes with age .

Around my parts and pals who grew up on the 1st trilogy well everyone thinks it is great.
Sure some are pissed for legit reasons but seeing groups have come out to admit bots down voted the movie for political reasons the op had a very good point.

But at least Trump has led the alt-right to a victory in The War On Christmas. These idiotic culture wars are designed to cripple America by turning our vision inwards and backwards.

People who are drowned in politics always see every subject through political perspective. For instance if some racist would have done some research on the subject, then I bet that he would have blamed some race for not liking the movie. My recommendation for the OP is to get out more often, meet new people and experience more personal conversations, about everyday subjects that actually matter in your life. Then you don't have to waste your energy in absurdely trying to tie new subjects with the demonic alt-right.

In my opinion the movie was too commercial and lacked in creativity. One can see if production has been influences mainly by an creative artist or by an marketing team. For people who have basic sense in art, it's really easy. For them, it's not hard to compare the works of Monet or an well detailed and colorful coca-cola poster and decide which one of them is actually artistic.
To me, the older star war movies were better because they actually had interesting philosophy in it. The duality of dark and light was widely discussed and left the audience many questions to think about later. Now this part is gone, there are only good guys and bad guys who fight each-other in sci-fi setting. The reason for this is that the majority of movie goers actually don't care about this part and the marketing team knows it, so, why bother? If an artist is in charge of production, then he wants to create something that he would be proud of, not caring about the fact if people actually get it or not.

I find the data compelling. The movie is being subjected to an online attack. Even if most of the newly registered raters are bots, it is quite a massive effort. I suspect this may be an experiment to see if online ratings can actually be used to steer a considerable chunk of the economy....

Honestly as long time Star Wars fan if they would have put Timothy Zahns trilogy from the 90's on screen it would have been better. Mark Hamil was right that director doesn't know Star Wars, The Phantom Menace is a better movie, if fact it's rated higher.

The alt right is 100 percent correct in these movies driving an agenda, you're blind if you can't see it.

If you're OK with popular media shaping your ideals and way of thinking, have at it. Me personally, I'm not interested and refuse to watch this crap.

Its actually the scriptwriters at Disney that decided to insert political overtones (and not to mention irrelevance and character degeneration) into this movie, and many other movies and sequels, for many years. Too bad the franchise was sold. I am sure Spielberg needed the money.

"Alt-Right" Trump-voting self-hating Hispanic checking in (
).

Not that I feel the need to reaffirm my position or defend myself against the likes you, a man (I'm assuming gender here forgive me) on the otherside of the world(coin), but this OP is a joke.

The movie is being panned across the board, and you're worried about RottenTomatoes? The biggest gripe I and many others have is the pacing of the movie. I don't care that the lead protagonist is a woman. I don't have a problem with a strong, organic female lead. What I have a problem with are reboots for the sake of gender (lookin at you Ghostbusters).

I don't have a problem with Finn, in fact, I enjoy the direction the Storm Troopers took in regard to the original DNA strain degrading with subsequent clones. Maybe you should be upset that the only main black character was a slave in the First Order? Seems right up your alley.

So is there anything with actual merit you'd like to accuse me of? I'm a big juicy target, Red 5.

What I find interesting about this thread is how almost everyone has misunderstood it by not reading the OP.

The debate is not about if Star Wars the Last Jedi was a good or bad movie, the debate is around a group deliberately review bombing the movie with negative reviews, not because of the artistic merits of the movie but for political reasons.

I do not care if you thought the Last Jedi was amazing or rubbish, thats not what this thread is about this thread is about a alt-right group trolling the movie with bots to bring down its rotten tomatoes scoring and generate more hate around the movie.

Honestly if you think the movie is utter crap thats fine, but its not what this thread is about, its about the alt-right (or a alt-right group rather) negatively review bombing the movie because they don't like its politics. Also I am not claiming that if you are someone who does not like the movie for legitimate reasons that makes you part of the alt-right.

.I think that so many people posting on this site have just not bothered reading the OP that very few of you actually understand what you are posting about.

Hey snowflake,

How about rather than posting about how you hope I die in my sleep you actually post something that is on the topic of the OP?

I love how you guys all post about how rubbish my OP's are yet never actually post anything on topic, you don't actually provide a counterargument to my OP all you do is bash me with personal insults.

Used to be saying on ATS "attack the ball not the player".

Standards have slipped quite a bit.
