I will say this again as I think it bears repeating.

The 2 statutes in question (from the op) specifically deal with foreign nations and foreign governments and not US citizens. Any US citizen involved in any of this would already fall under US Domestic law.

While I wish this was the start of the deep state downfall we need to be realistic and not get our hopes up.

Well, Trump "says" the right things, and he's shown the world what "freedom of speech" is and also how deep the "anti freedom" goes, even within the US.

Problem is, Donald Trump has too much dirty laundry in his room (he's a business man) to be the right man for the job. He's just as likely to notch things in the direction of "tyranny" as he is towards "freedom".

And, something people should consider ... an "honest" man, would be dead by now.

Ironically, this seems to be a case of the White House taking credit for something that originated in what you would call "the deep state." The move was first announced by the Treasury Department, and would seem to be the result of investigations going back to the previous administration.
