Is the iPhone X Racist?

I know this sounds like a bad joke, but it seems as even AI is racist.

Yan from Nanjing in east China, told local news outlet the Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation that despite personally activating and configuring the facial recognition software, her female work colleague was able to get into both devices on every single attempt.

Thinking that a faulty camera was to blame, the store operator gave Yen a refund, which she used to purchase another iPhone X.

But the new phone turned out to have the same problem, prompting the store worker to offer her another refund and suggesting to Yan that it was probably not an issue with the camera but with the software itself. It is unclear whether she purchased a third phone, according to a video report on China media outlet The Paper.

So is it the fault of the programing, or is the new iPhone racist?

Since the "X" in the name stands for "Malcolm X", I'd say this is impossible.

did she consider she might look like her coworker, or has the same proportional distances in her facial features as the coworker.

the algorithm basically places dots on an rgbz map or height map based(normal map type) on crevasses on the face.... (in a nutshell)

Not sure about that, but my sons are always having arguments because when one of them is playing on the xbox and the other walks in it messes with the login because the kinnect cant tell them apart.

It's bone structure. My lil bro can get by facial recognition on my devices but my kids can not.

The kinnect is very creepy. It sees ghosts at my dad's house! I could see if there were hot spots where someone was sitting, but if you're alone there should be one hotspot!

No, the iPhone isn't "racist". It's piece of metal and glass. It, as an inanimate object. is not capable of being "racist".
