Merry Christmas!

I'll bring the absinthe.

Well, I have personal tradition on Christmas Day. I'll do a three hour walk with my dogs on the hills, in order to reflect on the year going and the one coming. Then return to my loving family to join in the fun. I have done this for years.

Christmas has got lost in a forced sense of excitement and exploitative commercialisation. Behind all the glitz are millions of people who are excluded, often the elderly. That's quite sad.

My car got totalled.
I lost my job.
I got into a fist-fight with my dad and brother...limped away with a broken nose.
My girlfriend died.
I left town with what I could carry on my back on a bicycle.
I'm not much into sweets, but a cookie sounds good.
Life is good.
I seek no pity.
I have a sense of humor, two good hands, some cash and a sense of adventure.
Love.

Has your life turned into a country song? Man sorry to hear your having a spell of crap luck I hope things turnaround for you.

What a lovely tradition!

Yes, it is very sad that there are so many people who are excluded at Christmas.

For me Christmas hasn't been the same since my Mom passed away two years ago. My Dad has been gone for ten years, but the whole family would gather at Mom's house and now we don't all get together at the same time anymore. It is still a lovely day though, but their absence is felt of course. They loved Christmas and they are together now, so it makes it easier for me knowing that.

They sure did. 200 proof!

Hey, were still under the mistletoe.

Must be related to the teacher I knew in tech school. He would run alcohol threw a still he made at school. Anyway it was 180 or 200 proof so he said. His kid would sneak some out of the house and on campouts we would drink some (you didn't need much and it was better with a soda) All I know is when his kid would pour some in a camp fire it would have some blue and white flames...........either that or I was hallucinating.

Holy s#it.... I was about to have a whine about my BPD missus taking off with my gorgeous and happy 4 month old daughter right before xmas.... But I won't.... You're a staunch little monkey. But one has to be... Really bad # happens to people who can take it or people who seek rich life experiences.. I've seen it and experienced many times...
Happy xmas to my ATS family. x

The first thread I see when I logged on.
Just telling a friend this morning that I've been hiding in a box. I'm managing to keep up appearances for those I love

You are one of the kindest and most thoughtful folks that I have ever met and am glad that I did.
You've made me smile with your generosity and compassion for others when you are struggling yourself.

I want to try some absinthe some time in 2018.It's one of the very few types of alcoholic drink i have never tried.I will wait with that until our friend Nick returns early next year,i don't want to try it alone and he has drunk it before. He knows of a bottlestore in the capital that sells it.In my country, there's never been much interest in this type of drink but a few stores in the bigger cities and towns stock some.Gonna go with my usual for xmas,Heineken beers. It is usually warm here around xmas time and i can knock back quite a few of those without burning the xmas meal or getting silly.

For my ATS family...Just wanted to set up a place where fellow members could gather and share their thoughts and feelings with each other, where troubles can be set aside for a time, so that you will know that you aren't so all alone on Christmas. Much love and Merry Christmas to you all!. We can have a party with food, music and some magic to brighten your day.

I can bring cookies.

And some love...

And something cheery...

I'm all for the cookies , love and something cheery.......what's with the demonic ouroborus creature wrapped around "Merry Christmas " ????

I feel for you. I lost my mom and dad 23 and 21 years ago respectively, and I haven't really been in touch with my surviving siblings. I have grown children but they all go their own way. I married a way younger woman 12 years ago and I see her family over the holidays, it's not the same but at least I am not alone. Well not physically alone anyway.
