Something strange in the sky of northern ca tonight, meteors and ufo

So I just went outside and noticed a shooting star, then two seconds later another, they are happening every few seconds in the same area. Now I see something that looks like a comet in the same area, is there a shower tonight? Can anyone confirm seeing this? It’s at a heading of 125 or east east south.

The Geminids meteor shower is peaking atm. That's most likely your answer.

You didn't give any information an a ufo.

Anyways, over the next day or so you can see 1 or two shooting stars a minute 50-100 an hour granted you've got clear skies

There's a few apps that have an interactive star map, they'll basically tell you the stars and planets you point your phone at.

Personally I'm useless at astronomy but I like to witness showers and I do stargaze often enough.

Are the stars extra bright tonight? Sometimes when things are just right the stars will twinkle extra bright.

It's a magnificent sight.

Damn, I'm in NorCal and totally forgot about the meteor shower. I was out and about after dark too...

I saw a couple here in Southern Nebraska last night. One seemed kind of green. Is that normal? And does it have something to do with the make-up of the debris or the layer of atmosphere its burning through?

Green usually means there's some copper in it. Iron burns red.
