That wasn't the A380. That was what the approach looks like.

Surely he was using ILS?

The Canarsie approach doesn't use ILS. That would put them in the path of other airports around them. They use the VOR, but not an ILS approach.

Ah. gotya. Fair enough. Ewwww.

So he just dragged his ass over the roofs huh?

Got to admit, I've done that before. BUT not in something the size of the Titanic!!! Hahahaha

Radar showed them at 200 feet at the lowest point of the approach. I don't know what altitude they were supposed to be at for that point, but yeah, they busted minimums.

It's bad enough when they don't bother to follow them, but to TALK ABOUT THEM, and then ignore them is inexcusable.

We actually talked about this incident as one of our pre shift safety points....

1) CRM is not optional
2) Checklists are NOT Optional
3) Ignoring the above can be catastrophic.

Agggggggg we have a system that while not foolproof would WORK if people followed it.

The 75's are such hot rods. They always remind me of an American-ified Tu-16 or something similar, there's just a predatory-ness to their stance and proportions that really doesn't scream "civilian".

I always liked the beak look on them. Hate their ride though.

Most of my experience with them has been transatlantic ETOPS use on American and Icelandair, and I had nothing to complain about. They certainly aren't a 777 though, but they felt fine for 4-6 hours.
