Thanks for sharing that video. Seems like his vest did not go off as planned, or it was not made properly. Might be how they got him into custody without killing him. That's what I got from the video, but like everybody else I'm waiting on more details.

Wow, they say he was wearing it when it went off!

It was a dud it seems.

Also reports of it being a pipe bomb that detonated.

So why he detonated a pipe bomb but also had a vest on??

Dr Gorka has suggested that this is a failed suicide bombing and that having the suspect in custody is a virtual gold mine for the IC.

.......and apparently the suspect has lawyered-up already, "is 37 and is from Brooklyn and has a foreign name" - Ric Blumenthal

So the question now is what was the idiot doing with a pipe bomb?

What was his intention, set it of on the subway cart?

Or a bus.

I've been in the pedestrian tunnel connecting the 7th Ave subway and the Port Authority many times but it's hard from the video to make out which direction he is heading.

Hope this doesn't herald a Christmas season of bombings if it is a bomb.

Be safe peeps.

Are bombings in the christmas season worse than bombings at other times of the year?
Didn´t want to offend you!

There are a lot more tightly grouped soft-targets during the Christmas season. Crowded stores, more recreational travel, etc.

Also any series of terrorist attacks during the Christmas season would have significant economic consequences. Retailers make the vast majority of their sales this time of year. If people are too afraid to go shopping, sales drop and the economy suffers for the next year.

What's his name? Brooklyn guy.

Fox is saying that a suspect is in custody. (NYPD)

ETA : "suspect was injured and may have been wearing some type of suicide vest" - Steve Doocy

He was so dumb he couldn't even kill himself? That's unfortunate but not surprising. Dumb ass.

I Hope no one else was killed or injured.

That happens a lot. I think, at the end of the day, the number of people who think they could be a suicide bomber is much larger than the number of people who can actually go thru with it.

ETA: I now see it looks like his bomb went off prematurely. Hopefully he didn't hurt anyone besides himself.

Just saw this on the sky news feed.

Former NYPD commissioner Bill Bratton told MSNBC:

“The preliminary information, and it is preliminary, from police sources is it is a man in his mid 20s, possibly from Bangladesh, been in the country about seven years who was setting the device off in the name of ISIS.

"Definitely a terrorist attack.

Definitely intended.

"As to whether the device malfunctioned, that will have to be determined."

Even with threats of terrorism it's far more dangerous to walk down the street in the Bronx at night.

Yes, they are, due to the huge increase in shopping, partying and public congregations.

You didn't offend me, but you did come across as an ass.

So another update.

Reports of a second bomber having been arrested. There are now four confirmed injuries and it’s also being reported that the suspect is critical and may not survive

Yes and for the same reason that random truck and car attacks in Germany are -- you guys have your open holiday markets where there a bunch of people crowded into open spaces just ripe to be mowed down by any terrorist with a vehicle? Well, during the US holiday crush we have tons of people out and about in all kinds of venues for all kinds of reasons presenting all kinds of targets of opportunity.

It isn't the season itself - Christmas - so much as it is the effect it has on target availability for someone looking to inflict maximum damage on the most innocent people he or she can.
