you know, before Nasa, there was a time when all that existed, existed in this Galaxy.

Not quite.

There was a time when people THOUGHT nothing else existed. Science has since proven that very wrong.

please state the nature of your query correctly, thank you.

Who is to judge what "correctly" is?

Here is the post you were referring to:

"a better AI would want us to figure it out, to see if we can beat him. otherwise, there would be no challenge."

"What makes you think there needs to be a challenge?
Is out-of-control ego, inventing imaginary conditions?""
***************************************************************************************************************************
Will try to put it another way:
Where did you get the concept that AI wants a challenge, or that it is a "him", and that it wants us to figure it out?
Do you think it's possible that it is our egos, that create much of the supposed reality around ourselves, and creating conditions upon this conceptual reality?

it's funny, because the only science that fails the scientific process is astronomy.

so that be what? one big...what?

fail.

I'd say it's half laugh out loud, half utterly mind numbing.

Care to elaborate? I know a few professional astronomers and there many that are regular members here, all of whom I'm sure will be happy to succinctly refute your loony ideas.

How does it fail? Because you say so?

The same person who says there’s no green anywhere, but on Earth, then changes their story multiple times?

could be like that, but no matter how hard you want to believe the moon isn't there, there it is.

a computer could let us live as pets forever, except it wouldn't learn, which is what it wants.

well go ahead and you or them try to explain what the scientific process entails. amazing that I have to say it a second time.

Are you sure? I don't see any green on it, so doesn't that mean it's simulated?

No. You made the claim that it "fails the scientific process" (whatever that means), thus the burden of proof lies with you.

oh man I'm just now depressed that you said that. just sad how some people are. I'm sure you're good at other topics though, that gives me hope.

So... No proof. Got it.

exactly, because there aren't any smart people out there who believe in this simulation theory, are there genius?
The Simulation Theory ranks with the best we can come up with, as a collective species.

It likely will not be proven or disproved in our lifetimes. Maybe never will.

You have a disturbing level of confidence in what you are pushing here. Keep an open mind and question everything but we can't abandon logic and common sense.

Shouldn't this be in Skunk Works?

unless there's a way to unlock the matrix, which was everything the Movie was about.

amazing how I can have a disturbing level of confidence in this thread, but the confidence level of those pushing MS science, even on a CT site where it should be challenged, is never challenged like it should.

I think all we can say for certain is that it shouldn't be in Science and Technology.
