Social Injustice Warriors

Fiat justitia ruat cælum. May justice be done though the heavens fall—words to live by. But in a world where everything is political, there is no justice, and the heavens lie broken at our feet.

Injustice, oppression, and tyranny can unite seemingly disparate ideologies, whether left or right, whether feminist or not, under one ancient banner—Justice. No need for hashtags here.

Brave souls risked their careers and reputations to reveal to the us the horrid truth about our beloved Hollywood. Powerful men in the industry were abusing their powers for the purposes of satisfying their sordid perversions. The horror of rape, molestation, depravity, coercion filled our ears. Injustice after injustice after injustice came to light.

As to be expected, a march on Hollywood occurred. The much-needed show of solidarity, both to stand up for the victims and to stand against injustice, oppression, tyranny, spread throughout the streets.

Hundreds showed up.

Compare this to the women’s march on Washington, an unprecedented display of unity in protest of a man who once made uncouth remarks in private, had fought back against untouchable celebrities such as Rosie O’Donnell, and made “misogynistic remarks” about his opponent Hillary Clinton.

Hundreds of thousands of people, activists, politicians, spanning multiple cities and countries, took to the pavement in protest, fighting for Rosie O’Donnell’s honor. Many wore pink hats, an allusion to the man's private remarks, which, after being aired like dirty laundry in an act of political theatre, no doubt offended them. Celebrities, many of them the enablers and culprits of injustice in their own respective industries, took advantage.

It was the largest single-day of protest in American history, and thus, the greatest display of virtue-signalling the world has ever seen. They were not united in standing up for justice—no injustice had occurred—they were simply united in their thin-skin, their hatred, their censorship, and groupthink.

It is no strange wonder that, in a protest absent any sense of justice, injustice will occur within it. Some women were apparently too light skinned, too “privileged”, and told they should listen more and talk less. Women of a pro-life stance were to be shunned, apparently not women enough for the women’s march. Is this just?

And this was just a minor example. Countless others exist as reminders of the insidious attempts to deny others the right to speak, to gather, to share ideas. Injustice after injustice after injustice.

I hate the epithet “Social Justice Warrior” because it implies justice is somehow involved, and, at the very least, their intentions are well-meaning. This simply isn’t the case. They don’t seek justice. They give justice a bad name. They seek power. They seek catharsis. They seek orthodoxy. They seek the therapy of crowds. And in so doing, their very actions become unjust.

They are social Injustice Warriors

This Hollywood March is something everyone could get behind if there were only hundreds there I wonder who were they. As Hollywood and it's misogyny and hypocrisy and all the rest that goes with it is so hated by the right where were the thousands and thousands of right-leaning people to protest along with those few in the streets I wonder where they were

In LA, there's not too many working class right leaning people left since many of them were driven out due to rising costs.

It's mostly now composed of working class leftists/liberals and many of them hated the Hollyweird elites.

Many of the right wing people here (I live in LA in case your wondering) are WASPs types which means they are upper class and they looked down on anyone not them including poor whites.

At work.

I don't know about most of the others, but I have a home and family complete with a job and budget. I can't just up and take off to travel to California just to indulge in a day of outrage waving a sign. Instead, I save money by generally not indulging in most things turned out by Hollywood.

Traveling to someplace like California is a major family vacation for the enjoyment of all and not something I simply up and do for a day's protest.

Protest is meaningless anyways. At least in times of injustice, the protesters, however misguided, could be said to be well-meaning. Now they impede traffic, vandalize, and engage in self-aggrandizement.

I protested some for local TEA Party events, and look what that got us. After the shock of realizing they actually had pushed us stable 9 to 5ers into the streets ... right along with the blue haired grannies ... They started a smear campaign to call us all racists and started convincing the world we were one step away from donning the swastika.

It's something they carry on today.

What do you propose?

You do have a point though because in my local University, many people started blocking freeways when Trump got elected. I'm not a fan of Trump (nor Hillary so please don't call me a Shillary lover) but blocking freeways is by far a very stupid move and will get you no where. Also in Downtown LA, people started writing graffiti and causing trouble.

Their actions further alienated anti TPTB leftists like me.

Yes, I like Reagan's saying (I think): "I didn't leave the left, the left left me".

There are plenty of ways to protest that do not involve impeding the rights of others and engaging in censorship, violence and group noise-making.

In all honesty I think Justice is something anybody of any persuasion can get behind. But that involves discovering what justice is, and we've completely lost the will to articulate it.

So...you're saying there is some hypocrisy going on? Some misplaced hysterics?

Wow. //sarc off//

Well written but still depressing. I cannot tell you how hard it is to know this and continue pointing it out. Some have told me silence is consent. This is true. But when many refuse or are unable to see 1+1=2, how do you continue?

. Yep.... Remember the "Astro turf" comments, I still do.

If we ( the Tea Party) had fielded more sane clients, we really could have shook up things. With a crazy nominee we almost took down Harry Reid.

The womensmarch was a disgrace. Plenty of middleeastern women condemned the march. Excluding them was a pretty big mistake. They also didn't let any other groups join them that wasn't to there liking.

Like I said, they march for their own gain and aggrandizement. They care little, if anything, about injustice, tyranny, oppression.

This is going to snowball.

The more disturbing thing is I haven't heard any directors speaking out and supporting these actresses, perhaps the lack of outrage hints that the problem is more widespread than we thought. These sleazy pigs thrive on power; if I was a director and Charlize Theron walked onto the set I may need a bucket to contain my excess saliva, but I would maintain a professional relationship as there is a job to do.

Sure some actresses will be buried in a Y shaped coffin but for the rest they need to name names, a good example is the late Carrie Fisher, who was told not to wear underwear because George Lucas said 'there is no underwear in space.' If Lucas can say that, Imagine what else goes on.

Who knows how far down this rabbit hole goes but if it's been kept hush hush for so long, will there truly be justice?

Hollywood has been dong a lot of things to try and test the limits of its power over the human imagination.

"Trump Derangement Syndrome" for example, is just a test to see how many times they have to call a person a certain name before the public starts to believe it must be true without any real evidence. They want to see if they are really the nation's king makers, or if their power to choose presidents is indeed limited.

But.... this march is not a bad thing. Asserting that sexual harassment laws will apply to Hollywood is a step in the direction of making sure that producers have limits placed on their power.

Some producers aren't in it for the money. Some of these guys have already made so much money they could never spend it anyway. The motivation for them to go on doing it becomes the power. Those guys are dangerous.

Fortunately, most of those guys can't resist trying to coerce a famous actress to sleep with them. So now there is a trap waiting to help weed them out.

In an environment like that, people are scared of being blacklisted. Others may not want to get involved with that kind of activity.

In the past, the American Censor Board kept a tight grip on the directors. They would review all movies to make sure they were clean and had a moral message. If a production didn't match expectations, the film reels would be returned along with the required changes needed. That could take weeks, which cost the company. So those companies made sure everything was clean.

I don't know what era you are talking about. The problem isn't directors requiring actresses to film in the nude as part of the movie.

It's what the director may try to get them to do off the set. People who personally knew Marlyn Monroe, for example, have written about the sleazy things her producers demanded of her off the set. Getting calls at all hours to go visit them at their homes and then threatened once in privacy if she didn't do certain things. She was basically pimped and prostituted between them her whole career.

On the set she did some racy things, too, of course, but nobody's trying to shut down the porn industry here.
