maybe im odd but ive never understood the need for watches. there are clocks everywhere in the modern age and i never find myself needing to find a clock to figure out what time it is. if SHTF i dont see a reasonw why knowing the time is helpful at all either. not like your gonna need to keep that dentist appointment or pickup your kid from preschool at 2:15. maybe its just me or a personality thing from person to person.

Planet of the Clocks.
I can tell the time of day within a few minutes by the position of the Sun.
After sundown it is beer-thirty.

there are plenty of people that feel the same way as yourself. I like watches, I like being able to time things, give estimates as to elapsed time for something I'm doing. Also, my profession we can not have any electronics that transmit/recieve radio signals.
So for me a watch is a must on a daily basis.
But I do understand how there are people that don't see a need for them especially when we all have cellphones at arms reach.

I have a really nice analog wind up, it's a beautiful Stauer watch with a leather strap.

It looks like this, but the Womens version.

yes I am, I don't want to spend $100 plus on something that will loose an hour over one year.

I can honestly say that in a shtf environment the time would be the least of my concerns.

You better make it somewhat a concern if you plan to plan and communicate with fellow planners.

That's all well and good, what if whomever it is I am communicating with loses their watch?

Far simpler to do what people did before time pieces were invented.

Stars or the Sun? Can you make a sun dial on overcast days or read the stars under city lights? If it's shtf, there will probably be a lot of fires so the sky might be smogged too.

I suppose that would work in a pinch. Unless something needs to be done at a specific time. lol.

Time, that is a man made construct. It's design is to split our slave hours up and keep us productive .

8 hours work, 8 hours sleep and 8 hours of whatever, I'm not sure time has much of a purpose beyond that.
