So military, cops, mailmen can't be against entitlement socialists.

hahahahahahaha

Correct me if I am wrong, isn't socialism taking one person's money and giving it to another, as in my tax payments go to paying you for your previous job?

How can you be against a ideology you directly profit from ?

This is why you Marxists don't get it.

There's a difference between earning and working for your money and just thinking you deserve it because you embrace an ideology.

But maybe you don't know the difference.

One has to wonder why it even matters to Sanders considering the un-payable debt the United States has - the debt he has been more than willing to support. The debt that he has never lifted a finger to do something about. It's amazing to me that they are unwilling to cut their programs to save OUR money as well.

I saw a leading Dem come out and freak out over the supposed 1 trillion it will raise in debt. Wasn't Obama era raising at least 2 trillion a year? But that was ok, that was just fine - in fact - it was a beautiful and glorius thing.

It is one trillion MORE debt than what was already expected. So instead of Obamas $2 trillion, it will be $3 trillion per year.

I'm just being cheeky now, in saying that politicians claim they earn their money too.

Were you in the military?

Yes.

Then why should I be obligated to pay for your service?

Uh, okay.

Still doesn't justify theft. Still doesn't excuse Bernie getting butthurt because we get to keep more of our money.

If you don't mind me asking, why wouldn't they let you in?

I had a G.E.D., a child, and a simple possession charge on my record. I've seen convicted felons get the option of joining the military instead of going to prison.

What I don't understand about Socialism is that tax laws lay out the mandatory minimum amounts that should be paid in tax. There is nothing stopping anyone from contributing more of their earnings to the government who can then use it to help those in need.

Understand that the same way Trump is a silly kneejerk overreaction to the far left's toxic identitarian political agenda, Old Bernie is the same byproduct of the GOP's myopic mouth-breathing corporatist machinations.

Stupid fuels stupid.

Reject both and come back to reason. It is time for a re-enlightenment.

I think the hard lines drawn around certain labels cause problems. What are public schools and libraries of not socialism? If we were strictly capitalistic, you would be charged each time you entered one or read a book. Public pools? State Parks, National Parks..... without taxes in one form or another, nothing would happen. Pay to drive on private roads? Or use gas taxes to do that? You want a strong military? Taxes. Research for health at government institutes or associations with universities? Taxes. Trying to keep SOME of the environment out of the hands of corporations? Taxes. Sure, there is a great deal of fraud and waste and certainly our Congress are often little more than puppets for corporations, and welfare... I think a person should work if they get a check. Period. No extra cash for extra babies with no dads in the picture.... there are many places we could save costs, but taxes are simply a necessity. Capitalism can mean dog eat dog, survival of the fittest or richest, and the rest be damned. Capitalism can be heartless. Socialism injects at least some impression of trying to share the wealth and prosperity for the good of the greater number, the trick is to keep people from abusing the system so they get something for nothing. We are heading back to the Robber Baron part of history. The rich are so rich, they can buy out competitors and then have monopolies or near monopolies. Corporate collusion. Did you know the government is by law, not allowed to use its numbers to negotiate for better drug prices for Medicare and Medicaid? That there are laws specifically for a single corporation or small number of them? That much farmland is owned by corporations and get paid to Not Grow anything? That there are still subsidies for corporations that have been making record profits? The game is rigged for the Corporations, not the People. The interest in a newer form of Socialism is the natural backlash to the greed and special treatment for the rich. WE JUST GAVE THE WEALTHY TAX CUTS THAT ARE BEING CHARGED TO THE EVER INCREASING DEFICIT! WHILE WE ARE TRYING TO BUILD UP THE MILITARY!!!! What kind of accountability is this!!!!! China is in an ever increasingly powerful position to destroy the dollar as we continue to raise the debt ceiling. Our IOUs can become worthless, yet we lowered taxes under Bush at the same time we started and fought wars in the Middle East? How does that make sense? We have to RAISE taxes when we are spending Billions and Trillions of extra dollars to fight wars! And how much of that went into corporate pockets? And how stable is the Middle East now? Socialism has become a dirty word, like Communism. Frankly, Capitalism is ruining our planet and making the rich richer while everyone else gets slowly crushed. We need a better mix of these various economic philosophies if we are to ever find a balance before our ecosystem and economic system is ruined. Give me an unlimited charge card and I can make all things happen.... for a price to be paid later on, with interest. That is no way to run anything. Seriously.... adding to the deficit to cut taxes for the rich.... wow, nice scheme that is!

You can’t reach the hearts of Russian operatives and traitors. China and Russia found a way in through the evangelicals. They are turning Americans against each other.

Reading a few pages of the comments here, it's very clear that a lot of the people critical of 'socialism' don't really seem to have a good understanding of what 'socialism' is. And how it has a variety of different meanings in the liberal western democracies.

And that 'socialism' in America say, is not the same thing as 'socialism' in Venezuela.

Indeed there is no understanding that the socialist system in venezuela 10 years ago is not the same as the system today, which is really no longer socialist.

And then I see words like 'Marxism' thrown around, again, with very little understanding of what Marxism is. Because if I said that the root cause of most of the woes in our countries are the elites and their evil plannings to hold onto as much power and money as they possibly can at the expense of the rest of us, many people who condemn Marxism would probably agree with me. And yet, that's what Marxism is all about.

You can't condemn Clinton or Soros on one hand, and then say Marxism is a bad idea on the other. Marxism would get rid of your Soros's and Clintons.

The problem with marxism is most people read Marx and say well yes, this is all quite a good idea, but the problem comes up on his means towards achieving this goal. At which point everybody who reads Marx puts it down and says great idea, shame there is absolutely no way to do it.

So yes, 'hating socialists' without really knowing what you're hating? Maybe not the best idea in the world.

I have two words for you...paradise papers. And then there is the fault-capitalism.

You work and pay your fair share in taxes to repair the roads-you should get to work on a safe road and these schmuck CEO's who have Dickensian workshops and exploit the overseas lack of minimum wage laws while shifting their taxes offshore so they can enjoy their truffles drizzled with caviar.

Why should you bust your back for someone who's sole purpose is to find loopholes?

Don’t you have to apply for social security? Can’t you pull your kids out of public school? I’m not sure but I think I’ve heard of this thing called private schools before?

I already said that as taxpayers we’re “compelled” to pay for all sorts of things we might not agree with. I don’t know why you’ve chosen to present your comment as if I didn’t say that and instead argued with you about that point.

Either you don’t comprehend the point I made, or you’ve gotten yourself worked up for an argument and are gonna have one come hell or high water. I’m not really interested in discussing things with people who just ignore things I say and argue with me about things I didn’t say.

look, there were Tribes and communities of people throughout history that thrived before civilisation, and then capitalism took over.

You haven't ever heard of the system they used called "barter"?

They built 'market places' to meet for bartering.

That is capitalism at work before governments existed and before an agreed upon universal exchange item like silver or gold coins.

When you barter for items you made or posses for items someone else has is not Socialism/Communism/Marxism. I say, you are in love with is a pipe dream.
