It's like The Hunger Games. They want us to play the Districts to their Capitol in Panem.

The outstanding analogy award goes to you!

"Representatives shall be apportioned among the several States according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed. But when the right to vote at any election for the choice of electors for President and Vice President of the United States, Representatives in Congress, the Executive and Judicial officers of a State, or the members of the Legislature thereof, is denied to any of the male inhabitants of such State, being twenty-one years of age, and citizens of the United States, or in any way abridged, except for participation in rebellion, or other crime, the basis of representation therein shall be reduced in the proportion which the number of such male citizens shall bear to the whole number of male citizens twenty-one years of age in such State.”

Remember kids, when we can hold up less than 5% of the entire population and say, "Look how marginalized they are. We need to change marriage for them to protect their minority rights." It's a good thing because progressives want it.

But when a minority of the population in the eyes of the progressives can outvote them according to the rules of the Electoral College that were very much set up to protect the rights of the *minority,* it is suddenly a bad thing because the minority in question do not gain the progressives what they want.

Yes, because like marriage rights and hate crimes, living in BFE farm country is a human rights issue.

Bad parallel, Ket. Deep down, even you know it was a half-assed try at emotion-plucking.

Why should the east coast and west coast have more say than the middle ?

Because that is what it's all about.

It's been lopsided since the creation of the electoral college.

The EC decides our elections.

Not so. If we are assuming the center state vote Republican they have no disadvantage. In the last 38 years Republican presidents have been in the WH 22(Dem's 16) of them. Looks more like they have an advantage.

Too bad the United States of America aren't a democracy. They're a representative Republic.

Any time I see "threat to democracy" in an article, I automatically discount the author's understanding of how our government is setup.

Thank you! Like you, I see red flags any time someone refers to us as a "democracy." Either they don't know or they know and don't care... which is even worse!

the founding fathers purposely designed the Senate and the Electoral College to keep the urban areas from steamrolling rural areas.

the US left will not rest until they have permanent majorities in every branch of government. government will rule the people and the democrat elite will run the government.

Trump's election was Middle America fighting back.
