The Flying Tigers first came up with tactics to fight Japanese aircraft after learning not to tangle with them in dogfights.Dive and Zoom attacks or head on were preferred .Getting into a turn fight was suicide.Thatch weave was developed by John S Hatch after reading combat reports and was first utilized in the Battle of Midway in June42.
Problem with the Aluetian Zero is previously US Intelligence Stateside had the Japanese fighting with Bamboo built aircraft and a feeling of superiority of US built aircraft.

I guess I don't see bald-face untrue assertions like "Zeroes had never been shot down before June 1942" as persnickety. Just me.
