You do not need to store or conserve energy using platforms in orbit about the sun. The sunlight is what is providing the energy and the sun put's out sunlight 24/7.

Not sure why you'd want to "conserve" the sun's energy....it will be putting out light of many billions of years, and I assume by then humans (or whatever we've become by then) will have moved on to somewhere else after that amount of time.

Shielding against energetic particles to protect electronics is available. Shielding people and other living organisms in space is harder, but still very "do-able".

Chances are that if we are ever able to actually construct such cosmic megastructures, harnessing and/or producing energy will be easily attainable from a lot more than just sunlight, hence why would we even bother in the first place unless it's for the production of living space?

As to shielding living organisms from any harmful radiation, well our Earth does that just fine via her magnetic field and atmosphere, if we could build Dyson like constructions then we could also create the magnetic fields and atmospheric conditions in and around such structures to provide adequate protection.

Look at it this way if God created the Earth then he would still be running a poor second place to any civilization capable of creating such cosmic engineered creations.
