Just reading an article in not the most reputable of British rags however the sources are pretty reputable reporting loud booms and double
Booms in Middle East uk and USA along with a few other places around the world. Latest one was reported in Alabama, to me seems pretty obvious what could be causing it especially with majority being heard in Middle East uk and east coast of uk (pretty standard flight path right)?

Do you think something is going grey Zaph?

Potentially but like I say in OP seems bit of a coincidence that the sound are heard on a pretty standard great circle flight path from the Middle East to USA , also heard in Australia which has a very large flight test area used by ‘allied’ nations .

Always the chance it was just meteors but just thought it seemed odd

I thought there was a joke there somewhere with the 'Middle East UK' part.

Middle East

Looks like it in some parts of the UK.

Yes, clearly you are familiar with Bradford and Kensington.

Several of the areas heard are to be expected. Alabama is the high speed corridor, the east coast is home to several military bases including a Marine flight training base.

Nothing unusual, just increased activity.

Given your user name you obviously have more esoteric information than we do.
Middle might be a synonym for intermediate and the double boom is a reusable/reentry vehicle artifact.
Something about a fourth year anniversary coming up?

All sonic booms are double booms we just usually hear them so fast they sound as one.

I'm using my mobile.and can't find my post history but if you look through it you'll find a thread I started about my Scottish loud boom experience.

Never did find out what it was...

That's the fun part. Nine times out of nine and a half you aren't going to find out what it was.

Hey Zaph. Seems like you're being awfully "move along, nothing to see here," about this. Do you know something we don't know?

No, I'm being all "move along, nothing to see here" because there probably IS nothing to see. Not all unusual events are related to something special. Sometimes they're just more active than other times, and things seem unusual but aren't.

Lots of supersonic aircraft in Europe, and lots of training areas there where they can go supersonic.

I figured the F18's and 16's over as far as Latvia. Both U.S. and other NATO.

But i was certain the F35's were in England training.
