Shouldn't Roy Moor be proven guilty before he is not allowed to run for Senate? Al Franken admitted what he did, but doesn't seem to think he should step down as Senator.

Bill Clinton was proven to have lied about what happened, and the left thought it would be good to run his Wife for office. The thing that the very liberal John Oliver doesn't seem to get about all of this, is the hypocrisy from the left.

John Oliver is a tool.

Please don’t confuse the lefties with the principles of presumed innocence, the right to face your accuser in a court of law, and the rest of those pesky rights they are trying to destroy in America with their never ending march toward Socialism/Communism. Because they are all our dependents, don’t ya know...

America is now a plutocracy and you're ranting about it being taken over by socialism/communism....where is your great destroyer of America?...all I see is the poor and middle-class getting screwed over and over, while the wealthy and corporate accumulate massive amounts of money

How is whatchamacallit any different than the daily games of deflection that have raged in partisan environments for as long as Homo sapiens have been around?

As far as "proven guilty"?

We do not apply a court standard of justice to making voting decisions, or what we should eat for breakfast, or a million other decisions in our daily lives.

No, we operate on informed decision making in voting and other things, not a full-on jury trial for each and every conclusion or decision we make.

Lol, I grew up poor and am retiring lower middle class. Throughout my life I’ve lived within my means, not coveted my neighbors big house or new car (so didn’t have to put myself into insurmountable debt to keep up with them). I was fortunate enough to meet someone who believed in the same and we’ve been together 38 years. Both are daughters were brought up, and live, the same way.

So many who consider themselves poor do so because they can’t have a 3k sq foot house or drive a lexus or range rover. My wife and I still live in the first house we bought, a 1200 square FOOT, which includes a garage, 2 bedroom/one bath house. I don’t consider us poor, we know the difference between what we “need” and what we “want”.

If you folks worried less about whether someone has $1 million or $2 million in the bank, you’ probably be a lot happier...but that’s not your hidden agenda is it?

BTW...the buzz words of the moment, like “plutocracy”, have noneffect on me. I stay up to date with the drivel on those sites too...

John Oliver is a hack as far as I am concerned, and illustrates the problem quite nicely.

First, to pretend this happens only on the right is a joke.

Nope. Happens on both sides.

But good of you to open with whatabout the left!!!

Sure, someone says Roy Moore, and many right wingers say what about Bill.

But you say al franken, and many left wingers say what about trump.

Each scenario deserves it's own scrutiny. Trying to molest a 14 year old girl is not the same as pretending to feel up a woman by hovering your hands over Kevlar and steel plates.

Both offensive, but one in a different category.

So excuse me if I take his opinion with a large train of salt.

What opinion? Do you disagree with the logical fallacy?

Except the accusations are alleged pedophilia...which is a crime and subject to an accused rights. Will be a sad day in this country when all I have to is call the media, say someone raped me, providing no evidence, and their life is over.

Now I don’t discount any of the accusers of Roy Moore ARE telling the truth...however, there used to be a system in place to validate those statements, give the accused the right to mount a defense, and justice then served. Odd that no one wants that to hapoen with Moore, but the left is okay with Franken not stepping down...and there is physical evidence he is guilty...

I already explained it happens on both sides.

But citing perceived hypocrisy, more so when painting half the country with the crimes of a few, is not a defense, an excuse or explanation of ANY behavior or crime. It is not relevant in any way. It is to have no laws and no standards.

You and your sister, mother and husband who you told the same thing decades ago?

A tonnage of evidence exists against Roy Moore. You are applying a standard of legal conviction to a voting decision.

This is ridiculous.

Not pointing out that it's a tactic used by Trump, but implying that he renewed it and that's somehow been dead a while.

Obama used this method like a pro, as have numerous appointees of his (including Clinton).

Yes, on the surface, I'm using that tactic now, but the difference is that I'm not point this out to minimalize Trump's use, I'm just showing you that all politicians use this--it's standard-issue strategy for anyone ever going through a campaign or holding elected public office.

But, sure, if you want to play make-believe, we'll pretend that Trump has revived this dormant tactic that was last used by the Soviets, if it makes you and John Oliver feel better.

I am pointing out that it is fallacious, false, failed logic and should be called out as the same whenever it is employed.

But, sure, if you want to play make-believe, we'll pretend that Trump has revived this dormant tactic that was last used by the Soviets, if it makes you and John Oliver feel better.

Yes, Trump more so than all past presidents combined, uses this tactic.

Trump employs it at least once a week. With every single issue. Please provide one in which Obama used whataboutism? It's certainly possible he did, but I imagine you might struggle to find an example?
