Going back to the now well known IRS targeting scandal, at least 2 of the major players are seeking a court order to seal some of the records.

They want their testimonies sealed forever because they are afraid of threats from ... "The Public" !!

Lois is in Contempt of Congress and probably should be prosecuted.

Both understand they were just following orders (imo).

Apparently they have been "deposed" in connection with lawsuits following the exposure of the (mostly) illegal and over zealous targeting.

I imagine their lives have been total Hell since they got caught red handed.

Lerner, Paz say they fear physical harm from enraged public, want IRS testimony sealed permanently

Former IRS executive Lois G. Lerner told a federal court last week that members of her family, including “young children,” face death threats and a real risk of physical harm if her explanation of the tea party targeting scandal becomes public.

Ms. Lerner and Holly Paz, her deputy at the IRS, filed documents in court Thursday saying tapes and transcripts of depositions they gave in a court case this year must remain sealed in perpetuity, or else they could spur an enraged public to retaliate.

“Whenever Mss. Lerner and Paz have been in the media spotlight, they have faced death threats and harassment,” attorneys for the two women argued.

Ms. Lerner came in for particular criticism, with the government admitting she not only didn’t stop the targeting — contradicting the Obama administration’s claims — but also hid it from her superiors in Washington.

She SHOULD be afraid of the public...thats who she was hired to serve and she decided to use her own bias against it.

Her fear is understandable, but it enrages me that anyone would threaten a child.

Sins of the Father.... or mother I guess. Crazy.

All they have to do then is rat out "who" gave them the orders. Unless of course it came from them directly. I feel no remorse for them!

Well, if the dumb bitch really did care about her family members she would pony up on the charges and go to jail without any further defense tactics.

And she would be ok in jail, she's too ugly to get molested in there.

Here's the thing, and all people in positions of power, former and current, could learn from this:

If one does not want to be afraid of the people, the way to avoid that is not to hide what one does wrong while in positions of power. It is instead to act with nothing but the utmost integrity, intelligence, compassion and decency, whilst in the offices to which one is appointed or elected.

For example, those bitching and whining about Snowden from within the US government, have no leg to stand on, because what he revealed to everyone, was that the very figures who have made the most noise about him, are those who have the most to lose if illegal programs like those revealed by Snowden, unconstitutional, freedom destroying, liberty eroding, unjustifiable programs like the mass surveillance program, are discontinued and broken up.

Lerner and Paz SHOULD have been terrified enough of the people BEFORE doing what they did, that they would never have considered doing it in the first place.

That being said, if their kids have been threatened, then the people that issued those threats need arresting, because I do not care who one is, or what one has done, ones children are off limits, and must always remain so.

Why would she have to fear her testimony becoming public?

Now I really want to hear it.

Nobody is threatening their children.
They throw that crap in there hoping for leniency.
Considering their exorbitant salaries and abuse of the public trust they ought to be afraid of the public.
They will be nice and safe inside the penitentiary.
Not exactly like there's hordes of Tea Partiers in prison.

This is easily fixable. She can just go into court and own up to all their unethical practices while entrusted by the public to put her in that position. Then throw everyone else that was involved under the bus and I’m sure the threats will go away.

Funny thing about 'harm'...

When you issue the 'first strike' and harm others (whether financially, emotionally, physically, etc.) unprovoked... get this...you might not only receive a threat of harm but you should expect it.

And to request mercy after the fact...from simply the threat of harm, when you were clearly mindful of the harm you imposed on strangers without provocation... that would make you an immeasurable coward.

Lerner and Paz...STFU!

The LORD is long-suffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and fourth generation. : You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them.

The Lord is a great many things that the human race is not.

Society is not built around what Christ was, but against the worst of what man is. Man does not suffer long before either he fails or lashes out, and when he does he brings down every living thing which stands between him and the one who wronged him, and will visit all the iniquity ever devised against everyone in easy reach when tested, because unlike Christ, he has neither divinity, nor the ability to physically reincarnate on Earth to fall back on. Its damned easy to be patient when you are literally the Son of God.

Don't do illegal s**t as an employee of a federal agency that causes harm to citizens and their organizations, and maybe you won't fear physical harm.

I'm not ignorant enough to say violence is never the answer, but hey, you reap what you sow in many avenues of life. If you're attacked, call the police.

In any event, the public should have a right to see transcripts or video of her testimony--she was a "public servant" discussing her illegalities while on duty, being paid by our tax dollars. Her precious little fears should not be enough to seal these documents.

She gets zero sympathies from me.

Well, if they get jail for their deception, the public will be appeased for the crimes they committed. People will not threaten them with violence nearly as much if they are punnished.

It sounds like these people are trying to get public sentiment on their side so they will ignore the evidence of their wrongdoing. This is a tactic that people use to try to persuade others they were punished. Some people fall for their ploy, they need to pay for their wrongdoings. Not everyone is going to feel sorry for these people who wronged a lot of people illegally till they pay the price for their crimes.

She should be scared.. She abused the power of her position. She used her own bias to unfairly target a group of people. She deserves everything that's coming her way.. I'm HAPPY as a clam to see her worry like this. Imagine if Hillary won, so many of these c*nts would have got away scot free

The only good thing that might come from any follow through by the public is that other federal employees and politicians may have it hammered home that they are answerable to the public regardless of what some fancy lawyer does for them in court. We may be a civilization that mostly lives by and observes laws but folks can only put up with so much BS before the pitch forks, touches and ropes come out.
