the diplomatic warning of Danger ! Leave Immediately to Saudi citizens in Lebanon.... raises the Conflict Flag

but to my mind... the really dangerous element in this Pre-Conflict situation is that Israel is locked & loaded along side of the Saudi Armed Forces to do tactical & surgical attacks on Lebanon & the Hezbollah deployments in nearby areas like Golan etc.
And that the Israeli's might just keep expanding the operation against Hamas & the Palestine areas along with Syria ... Lebanon is the Door Way leading to aggression all over the place that the Saudi forces never counted on being encountered

Wait & see if the IDF goes rogue on the Saudi coalition/partnership

We know why all those secret missions to SA went Jared to the new strong man in SA Bin Salman...

Ya' know...I glanced over your sentence...then it hit me...
Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince might be the Nostradamus MABUS... most of the letters are there in the anagram for the Crown Prince of S.A.

If the spelling of Mohammed is how it is around the world it could also be Muhammed....which would make up for the U.

Try to remember that the official policy is typically smoke and mirrors for the actual policy. The actors we elect are paid to put on a show, so that the producers in the background, the real power (national intelligence agencies aligned with corporate industry powerhouses) can make their moves discreetly while the public are fed their non-issues and fake news to argue over.

oh they have the manpower and the equipment to wage war. and have been doing so indiscriminately for two years in Yemen. They frequently get their asses handed to them on the ground. They got no ground game man. SA, the UAE, and Bahrain as well even resorted to importing mercenaries from Africa and South America. Guess whaty happened? The South American mercenaries were there for like six months, and then went home and made peace with the Colombian government ending a nearly 60 year civil war. WTF happened out there that they suddenly deiced to go home and end a war that was longer than most of them have been alive??

The Saudis continuously send Sudanese militants to their deaths against the Houthis. The air siege was about the only time they saw success. Their navy has come under frequent attack with losses. The only people the Saudis and their mercenaries are good at defeating are the unarmed oppressed citizens of their country! Maybe that's why they brought in the Chinese to build a drone factory there. Art least unmanned platforms don't kill people when they are destroyed.

The Saudis would not stand a chance against the Iranians IMO without explicit American backing as in that scenario Israel would be fairly occupied dealing with Hezbollah and their Eastern front with Syria. Now you know what happens if the Americans become involved with Iran, there is a strong possibility the Russians would join in. it is these eventualities that guarantee neither of them will come to direct conflict and it will remain a proxy battle through Yemen and Syria.

Sounds like what you're saying is the contemporary Saudi military doesn't have much of a history to critique because they're good at getting other people to fight for them. With that in mind, on what are you basing your analysis for how they'd do against Iran?

The entire region has been plagued by rivalry, corruption, religion and colonialism for centuries.

I would like to see the Saudis and Iranians just go at it on a massive desert plain somewhere. Just end it once and for all, in fact throw the Israelis in along with Hezbollah and Hamas. Then let the people who actually give a #, the people themselves, the power.

Oh and for certain Western powers and a few Eastern powers to stop vying for influence and power in the region. Just either help them rebuild and redevelop or get the # out of that region. I should be the Peace Envoy to the Middle East...

There's a strong possibility that the Lebanese will invite the Russians in which will put a stop to this before it gets started.

However, the interesting wrinkle there is that the saber rattling is pushing the price of oil up and oddly enough both the Saudis and the Russians like that, and so do the Iranians.

The US has an energy sector that likes a high oil price also, but Trump can't afford to give them everything they want. First of all, an oil price shock would surely vaporize the Trump stock market. The money in stocks would leave to go long on oil and run for cover in general. The US would suffer severe economic damage. So would China. China has all this carefully leveraged debt arranged just so as they try to maximize their economic growth and keep employment high. An oil price shock would would probably cause a serious economic disaster for them as well.

So what I think the Saudis and Russians and Iranians all want is basically as much of an oil price rise as they can get from a reasonable amount of fear, without the actual shooting war.
