Oct. 28, 2016: Comey announces new emails on Weiner's computer.
Hodgeman's husband Peter Strzok oversees the case.
Prosecutors in US Attorney Preet Bharara’s office have issued a subpoena for Anthony Weiner’s cell phone and other records, law enforcement sources said.
NYPD detectives and the Manhattan DA’s office are also “looking into” allegations that Anthony Weiner engaged in a months-long sexting relationship with an underage girl, sources told The Post Thursday.
Investigators took possession of multiple computers related to the inquiry of Anthony Weiner in early October, U.S. law enforcement officials said. Weiner is Abedin's estranged husband and is being probed about alleged sexting with a purportedly underage girl.
Senior officials at the FBI, including Andrew McCabe, the FBI deputy director, were briefed on the issue. By mid-October, Comey learned investigators in the Weiner case might have found something that could have an impact on the now-closed probe into Hillary Clinton's private email server, according to one law enforcement official.
Comey was told investigators were still trying to figure out how many emails existed and their pertinence to the Clinton probe.
Senior Justice Department officials were briefed on the situation about a week ago and Comey was given a full briefing Thursday, the officials said, triggering his decision to notify members of Congress Friday
Aug. 29, 2016 – The New York Post reports Weiner is caught sexting another woman – at one point posting a raunchy selfie with his 4-year-old son in the background. The Post reports the pair began texting in January 2015. Hours later, Huma Abedin, Weiner’s wife and longtime Hillary Clinton aide, announces her separation from her husband. "After long and painful consideration and work on my marriage, I have made the decision to separate from my husband. Anthony and I remain devoted to doing what is best for our son, who is the light of our life. During this difficult time, I ask for respect for our privacy," Abedin said in a statement. In a statement, Donald Trump says he worries that Clinton was “careless and negligent” with classified information as it neared Weiner and Abedin.
