Bid to buy for-profit college by former Obama insiders raises questions

“There is at least a taste of unseemliness involved in this,” said Mark Schneider, a former top education official under President George W. Bush."They regulate it. They drive the price down. …They are buying it for pennies on the dollar.”

Thank you Butcher guy & Fluff!

I must skipped over that paragraph completely, but have been basically skimming instead of reading so as to not fall too far behind!

Something else to consider for Loop..

The most memorable of these character witnesses was Jim Reynolds, owner of Loop Capital Markets, a Chicago investment bank. Before singing Jackson's praises, Reynolds described how, after 20 years in the world of finance, he had founded his own firm. Reynolds boasted of Loop, "We're the number one underwriter of public securities . . . in this city and state. We've been at business approximately three years." And Reynolds explained his firm's meteoric rise: "A significant part of the access that we've enjoyed . . . has only been made possible through the tireless efforts of Reverend Jackson."

I just posted this in my new Clinton Foundation thread, but it fits better here:

Ok, well while this is not directly CF or CGI related, I did find this email interesting. It begins with Jan Piercy Executive VicePresident of ShoreBank Corporation asking to meet with Hillary in reference to the USAID to be head up by a member of congress and goes on to mention a couple of possible candidates.

Hillary passes this on to Huma for scheduling and it looks like they eventually manage to find a time to meet; around late 2009.

The following year, this story is posted:

Chicago-based ShoreBank, which for more than three decades made loans to South and West siders who might not have gotten financing elsewhere to buy homes, apartment buildings and start businesses, failed Friday. It had struggled for months to raise sufficient funds to stay afloat.

Its deposits and most of its assets were acquired by a consortium of major U.S. financial institutions and philanthropic groups and will reopen under the name Urban Partnership Bank.

ShoreBank was the 15th Illinois bank to fail this year and the 118th to be seized by federal and state regulators nationally. Its failure is expected to cost the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. $367.7 million. The FDIC, which is funded by the banking industry, said it received only one bid for the bank.

Major investors in Urban Partnership include American Express Co., Bank of America Corp., Citigroup, Ford Foundation, GE Capital's equity investments arm, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Key Community Development Corp., Morgan Stanley, Northern Trust Corp., PNC Investment Corp., Goldman Sachs Group Inc., and Wells Fargo & Co. Former First Chicago executives who joined ShoreBank in recent months will run the bank.

...

David Vitale, a former First Chicago executive who recently joined ShoreBank, will be chairman of Urban Partnership. Bill Farrow will be president and chief executive.

Urban Partnership has indicated it will maintain ShoreBank's focus of providing loan and deposit products and services to individuals and small to mid-size businesses, including those on Chicago's South and West sides, and in Detroit and Cleveland.

David Vitale:

Chairman of the Board

Strangely enough Ariel Investments just came up over in the Q thread.

How odd is that?

A rise that fast in Chicago financial circles tends to indicate that they knew how to grease the Machine that is Chicago Politics. Similar things have happened in Detroit and they ended badly for the participants.

Interesting... A battle verbal erupted between Chicago Mayor Rham Emmanuel and Kennedy. Kennedy accused Rham of intentionally withholding funding from poorer sections of the city in an effort to push out poor / minorities.

I am curious if there is a link.

David Vitale sounds like a real piece of work.

The latest multi-million dollar lie from David Vitale! Near North High School building was never 'sold' by the Chicago Board of Education!... Vitale's latest Big Lie will cost taxpayers $50 to $100 million in 2014 - 2015. But the lies of this Board began as soon as Rahm appointed them...

I am curious if there is a link.

You mean like this:

UPB Chairman David Vitale, better known to Chicagoans as Mayor Rahm Emanuel's former chairman of the Chicago Board of Education, is meeting with CEOs of locally headquartered banks like Northern Trust, PrivateBancorp, Wintrust Financial and MB Financial to help bail out the bank.

Crain's - Chicago Business

Oooh, lookie here:

According to a source quoted by the American Spectator: “If you were on the call, the inference was that the White House wanted this bank saved. Obama’s name wasn’t invoked. [Valerie] Jarrett’s or [Rahm] Emanuel’s names weren’t invoked. But the implication was there. … The White House would look favorably on this bailout.”

“Interference by the White House with the FDIC’s standard procedures for dealing with distressed banks would be costly to those institutions insured by the Corporation,” Issa noted. “Perhaps more problematic are allegations that Goldman Sachs Chief Executive Lloyd Blankfein has agreed to contribute to the ShoreBank bailout as part of an effort to repair Goldman’s damaged relationship with the White House. Considering that Goldman Sachs is currently the subject of a Justice Department criminal investigation, it is important to avoid even the mere appearance that Mr. Blankfein is attempting to curry favor with the Administration by contributing money to save the White House’s favorite community bank.”

Anymore to that story? Did Goldman Sachs benefit afterwards in that DOJ matter? Did they pay a smaller fine ect?

Was there any records of meetings/communications before they helped save Shorebank between President Obama and Blankfein?

Following David Rothschilds twitter account, you'd come to think that the U.S. POTUS is evil incarnate. This guy rants about almost NOTHING OTHER than Trump and how insane, evil and dangerous he is....several times a DAY. Bizzarre behavior for a respected, measured, erudite Economist such as him.

Also...why would this well respected, erudite, measured Family so eagerly endorse tabloid journalism:

I think the Wolff book is just the Dems pivoting back to the "25th Amendment" strategy. They realize that Mueller is a bust, and there are no grounds to impeach Trump, so they're going back to pushing the narrative that Trump is mentally unfit to be president.

That sounds about right. Nothing came from Mueller, so they pull out the next punch. They want this guy OUT. The desperation is palpable.

Flashback:

In 1996 this novel was published:

It predicted that the Catholic Church was being infiltrated by a "satanic cult of pedophiles".

Shortly before he died under mysterious circumstances, the author claimed that the novel was not actually fiction
but 98% truth.

A few years later, thousands of pedophilia cases swept the Catholic Church.

I'm not surprised.

Jorge Bergoglio, now known as Pope Francis, does not have a stellar past.

Research Argentina's Dirty War and the part he played.

Under Bergoglio's later leadership as Archbishop of Buenos Aires, the church apologized for its abject failure to protect its flock. But he also refused to appear in open court to answer questions about his role in the 'Dirty War' oppression-- twice, and when he finally did appear in 2010, his answers-- some of which, like the denial of knowledge of stolen babies-- left many human rights advocates extremely dissatisfied.
"He doesn't face this reality and it doesn't bother him," de la Cuadra said. "The question is how to save his name, save himself. But he can't keep these allegations from reaching the public. The people know how he is."

Jorge Bergoglio's sinful role in Argentina's "Dirty War"
