Why do we still do this?

What purpose does it serve?

This is absolutely the dumbest "tradition" that we still continue.

What's the conspiracy behind all of this?

It screws up people, it messes with "body clocks", and it is annoying.

Next year, I plan to boycott "Daylight Savings Time".

Screw the government telling me what time it is. Who the hell are they to determine that? Where is it in the Constitution that they get to decide the time?

It's "time" to fight back!

I enjoy the few times we agree. Daylight savings time is stupid. I'll sign a petition if you want to get one started.

here's a little on the 'why's'.

'An Act to preserve daylight and provide standard time for the United States' was enacted on March 19, 1918. [See law]It both established standard time zones and set summer DST to begin on March 31, 1918. Daylight Saving Time was observed for seven months in 1918 and 1919.

I don't know all the why's myself, and you are right, it messes with the body clock but I sure do like the extra hour I have in the Morning!

Thats the intent. To unsettle your notion of stability.

We have the most accurate atomic clocks to keep such precise track of time, and then they change time a whole hour twice a year, lol.

Take that early risers, night shifters, 'daylight savers'.

I don't know why we do it still. I woke up today and my body thought it was 7am, then I looked at the time and it was 6am. It will take some time to adjust, not even sure if I adjusted from the last change.

I will say though, with the time change, I don't have to drive with the sun blaring in my eyes at 7am for awhile lol.

we did it last week here in the UK.

They have been calling to abolish it for years over here but we still have it.

To be fair it does get dark stupidly early over here if we don't adjust and they give you the hour back at some point so it is not like proper government stealing.

A lot of the Governments Policies and meddling in the last half century are a bad idea, but we still can't bridle what they pull over on us. What we need to do is take back what's ours. Forced Policy in the white house is really the root of our troubles.

Well, I love it. I woke up for work this morning and said "SH*T I'M LATE!". To which my wife said "what the hell are you doing? It's daylight savings".

So I got an extra hour of sleep today. It was glorious.

I thought they did this so kids weren't going to school in the dark.
Who wants their child out in the dark. Even if it's morning.
It's never bothered me.

Why not adjust the time schoolkids go by an hour each end then?

Sometimes people get so caught up looking for a clever solution they miss the obvious.

6 months from now I'll just drink some extra coffee. But today, I feel well rested.

I heard it had to do with somebody who wanted more time to play golf in the summertime. Seriously

Its crazy to take away time in the winter when it gets dark early in the first place.
