I believe that in the near future, the left will finally understand why things are what they are. I'd venture a guess that a whole lot of us who voted for Trump did so mainly because we sure as hell didn't want Clinton. (Or any of the establishment R's that ran) And yes, we defend Trump against the hate and lies, even though he says stupid things and has little tact. Because we understand that it could have been her, and that would have been awful. Everything would be for sale.

I know I hope the left finds some good leadership. The right doesn't have any, and it sure would be nice to have somebody with a license driving the bus. Either way, we need it. But while Hillary circles the built in S trap, I will smile with a smug little twinkle in my eye, if only for just a second.

I understand and appreciate the reasons you cite for why someone would have voted for Trump.

But there are people on here who do more than just defend "Trump from lies."

Hell, if you guys all know he's a jack-ass, it might help if you'd just say, "Yes, he's a jack-ass and a terrible choice for a President, but Jesus H. Christ our only other choice was Hillary. "

Or something....

And then STOP defending him when he does something stupid, or disorganized, or sloppy, or shows his complete lack of ability to govern, or his complete failure to understand policy at a granular level or to SELL anything to anyone OTHER than the 38% in his core voting block.

I mean, just admit the guy sucks. And let's go from there.

Nah.

I think the divide is too wide now. Leftists will never admit to their errors because they are too entrenched in identity politics. It'd be like admitting they were wrong.

And as we all know. . . . .no one is EVER wrong.

It's a pity, but nothing short of a zombie apocalypse will reunite the country.

This recent poll is elucidating:

The Cato 2017 Free Speech and Tolerance Survey, a new national poll of 2,300 U.S. adults, finds that 71% Americans believe that political correctness has silenced important discussions our society needs to have. The consequences are personal—58% of Americans believe the political climate prevents them from sharing their own political beliefs.

Democrats are unique, however, in that a slim majority (53%) do not feel the need to self-censor. Conversely, strong majorities of Republicans (73%) and independents (58%) say they keep some political beliefs to themselves.

I'm not sure if this is an American thing or not, but most, if not all of the criticisms of Trump by the far-left and the NeverTrumpers are about his words. "He said this, he said that; he tweeted this, he tweeted that". One day I hope these word-obsessed puritans realize its about deeds, not words. Considering the poll results, if they do not lay off, it will be their downfall.

Trump's greatest accomplishment is the death of political correctness.

You guys need to get out of your own echo chamber, with respect. Plenty of the left criticize this stuff, and most Bernie supporters and aCTUAL leftists (not democrats) have been saying this the whole time.

Just to point out guys, Democrats are NOT leftists. They are center or center rightists. Real leftists criticize Democrats for being too right wing. And by that they mean being Wall Street shills, neoliberals on economics, and just like the Republicans war mongers.

Except, that's a generalization. Also, you are referring to mainstream Democrats. Plenty of actual commies, socialists, and democratic socialists (actual leftists) also criticize identity politics for obscuring issues like social class, capitalism, imperialism, etc.

If you want to be taken seriously by anyone other than conservatives, keep in mind these points.

I know very few people in the real world who were thrilled about our choices in the general election. Which is to say, I agree with you.

I rarely find anyone outside of the phantom interwebz excited about Hillary.

I do find some excited Trump people. Those people really concern me, because while I can understand Trump as a protest vote or an FU to the establishment, I can't fathom anyone being excited about the guy.

For the Left to "come around" they have to drain their own swamp.

That means 1000 people need to be exposed.

I've been trying, for many years, to convey there being a difference between "Democrat's" (representatives of our elites masters and their agenda(s)) and everyday "liberals" (whom unfortunately too often fall for the agenda(s)), and the same with Republican's/conservatives.

I started writing new thing on it the other day actually, maybe I'll finish it tonight for tomorrow.

The point is the Party's they dont truly represent US, they dont work for US, their BS divides US, they and the cliques they do work for / are stooged with dont give a flying F about any of US, and so on.

Still confused over the concept these "progressives" and how to tell them apart from "liberals", however... and I'm not sure that anybody else is sure either??

For anyone to come around people need to start criticizing the dirt and grime within their own teams, whatever team(s) they happen to adhere to in life, rather than wait for the other team to point out the dirties and then react with total denial and deflection. Otherwise the deluded psychopath that emerges in seemingly every The Crowd is to be expected.

That's how to stop the zombie pockylips.

You also defend his hate and lies. That seems to be inconsistent.

Everything still is "for sale". Trump has not changed anything. Lobbyists still run DC and even though the Reps run the fricken government, they get nothing done.

Trump has not changed that one bit.

I know I hope the left finds some good leadership.

Me too. It would be nice to find real Leftists in this country that could step up and take the Left back to the Left where they belong. Right now they are a center-of-right bunch of pansy douchebags that are so scared to introduce real Leftists ideas that their governance is practically useless.

Right Wing propaganda in this country, and elsewhere, has been so effective that the mere mention of socialism scares-off even those that claim to be a Leftist.
