Saudi Arabia has announced that they are going to move away from Wahhabi'ism and several of their top clerics are behind a plan to "liberalize" Islam. Other religions would be allowed to be taught and sharia law would be "modernized". This has been building for some time and I think came to a head when Saudi Arabia founds itself under attack from both sects of Islam and a push back from other countries outside the M.E.

They just recently allowed women to be able to drive cars on their own and their law enforcement is now undergoing training on how to interact with a segment of the population they never really had contact with in this capacity.

Things are changing... slowly... but changing none the less.

All the details emerging are pretty much straight out of the ISIS handbook. Not 100% sure but looking like an ISIS-inspired attack, yes.

ISIS-inspired is not the same as being an ISIS attack.

Well, ISIS is just a branch of a massive Islamofacism tree. They're all using the same playbook, but certainly there are different teams on the field.

explain how sunnis and shia get along in your fantasy scenario please.

i enjoy it so much when the islamofacism gets blurted by far right types, and i need a good laugh.

Historically they seem to only kill each other when they lack an infidel outsider group to focus their cult's hatred and genocide against.

Glad you got a chuckle at the cost of 8 lives. Welcome to being part of the problem.

No their conflict has allways spilled out the middle east since the United States founding. Ever heard the of the marine corp hymm?

“From the Halls of Montezuma
To the shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country’s battles
On the land as on the sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marine.

The line "TO THE SHORES OF TRIPOLI" refers to the barbery wars the first time the US went up against Islam.The barbary pirates would rais US ships take the cargo and the people. The main purpose of their attacks was to capture Christian slaves for the Ottoman slave trade as well as the general Muslim slavery market in North Africa and the Middle East.

Dont kid yourself Saudi Arabia is controlled by shakes and very few want things to change. Did youknow that women haveto be over 35 to drive? They also need a maletotake them to get a license meaning this wasreally a useless change wasnt it?

Since women couldnt drive its only logical that a male would have to take them to get their license. The logic you just applied would be like saying this 16 year old kid can now get his license and should drive himself, illegally, to the DMV to get his license.

The fact they are letting women drive is a huge step. Just like allowing them to run / hold office and the latest is to allow them to go to sporting events.

The change is present.. its slow but present and honestly do you think a society that still resides in the 9th century is going to change over night?

Things turned the corner when the Royal family stripped the religious police of their authority. In order for them to do anything now they must contact law enforcement and are subject to the officers decision.

No, the logic they applied was that a woman should be able to take her friend, ANOTHER woman, to get her license if that's what they want.

Friend, sister, mom...etc. I drove my daughter to get her first license. Her dad was at work but here in the US that didn't matter.

I'm afraid I'm not seeing the progress they still require a make escorts yes to even drive. As far as the elections it was a joke. 21 women took office. However nearly 1,000 women ran throughout the country, but while there were 1.36 million men registered to vote, according to the Wall Street Journal, only 130,000 women could vote.

Do you know why the number of women who can vote is so low? They put more restrictions of course including having to get written permission from a male family member. If you call that progress your crazy. The royal family tomorrow could change these things by simple decree. Yet they don't wonder why?

What part of slowly changing confuses you? A country based on 9th century mentality is not going to change over night and expecting that speed of change is naive to say the least.

School bus carrying children hit in New York attack

4 people were injured on the school bus, which by the way was a special needs school bus. 2 students and 2 adults were injured.

The truck collided with a school bus on Chambers Street near Stuyvesant High School, injuring two school staff members and two children, police said. One of the students was in critical condition Tuesday night, according to New York City Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina.

So far 6 of the dead are foreign nationals.

Wait wait so anything created outside the US? Christianity is a foreign organization then, not a religion?

No, Christianity is a religion, the Catholic Church is an organisation.
ISIS is an organisation, Islam is a religion.

As I said above, it looks like nobody understands what I am saying in this thread, so I'm out of here.

I have said for a while that Islam is undergoing something similar to what Christianity went through in the Dark Ages. It needs to hit a Renaissance and Enlightenment style period before it can move into the modern world.

We have recall that in terms of the other religions of the world, Islam is still very, very young.

Watching the clip of the terrorist running around i'm thankful that the gun laws seemed to work in this case.

This guy would have killed more if he had guns, but wasn't able to get them.

That's interesting from an academic perspective, but realistically I think they should be beyond the 7th century. America is much younger than most European nations, we don't use that as an excuse to do # they were doing 1000 years ago.

The Ottoman Empire was ruling the Mediterranean Sea and our merchant ships were being captured and the men and women enslaved as Allah's gift to them. Pres Jefferson was Sec of State when the 1st ships were captured and by the end of his POTUS, he had found out about might makes right against the pirate class of that setting. 10 marines or so were able to whip up opposition because the Ottoman leaders were cruel to them. With the Naval power of the gunships holding the harbors of Tripoli it was capitulation and a treaty developed that the Pirates of Islam would on other occasions have to be blown to bits to make a point. The Pirates would escape when we 1st engaged them in the early years but our Naval officers developed tactics to corner them. In the end a captured/slave who was an American Warship Cpt would pave the way for a decent treaty.

The last Muslim slave market in Europe was shut down in 1912 when during THE BALKAN WARS the Serbian army
captured city of Skopje (current capital of Macedonia), then part of Ottoman Empire

What is this about tripoli?

You mean to tell me there were Muslims capturing christian slaves?

No that cant be.

I learned in college that only white people had slaves.

So if these Barbary pirates had slaves, it must have been justified because the US is evil, and whiteness, and patriarchy.
