I believe the dossier was used to obtain one FISA warrant, for Carter Page. And to hear trumps own words he was hardly a member of the team at all. Served coffee and donuts or something trivial once. So hardly the basis for obtaining FISA warrants for trumps team as you claim.

That is indeed what the source says, you are right.

Nonetheless, the timeline still fits.

They had to get a new warrant on page and manafort, and there are claims of at least two other members of Trumps team being monitored, and the steel dossier was done in time to use.

Cnn has made the claim that the dossier was used.

Again, we will see what the FBI, who has been stonewalling subpoenas on this for over 60 days, finally says next week.

Well if it was used for that, then everything in the OP is correct.

Correct me if I'm wrong though, this revelation doesn't demonstrate the contents of the dossier are false, simply who paid for the research to be conducted?

And we always knew that somebody paid for the research to be conducted, and it always seemed a reasonable bet it would be a political opponent of Trump?

Even if every single allegation in the dossier were true, it is so much less concerning than allowing a sitting president to have his party pay foreign agents for info that is then used for secret warrants to survey their opponents.

If we allow this, our entire political system is dead.

As for the dossier itself, some of it has been proven to be absolutely wrong like the Cohen meeting.

But now that an investigation is going, by all means it should continue.

Everything in the OP in no way proves Trump or his team are innocent.

Is that the new talking point? That Obama used the Dossier as the only evidence to get wiretaps on Manafort? Not the fact that he had been previously under investigation and lied about his contacts with certain officials?

Is this the new talking point? Its ok to pay for dirt that comes from Russian agents against your opponent, and the use that to get fisa warrants on your political opponent, so long as you have other evidence too.

Some people consider the involvment of John McCain as well, any thoughts about that ?

British Involvement In "Trump Dossier" Needs Further Investigation

Michael Sussmann, a lawyer from the same firm that hired Fusion GPS on order of Democrats, hired the Crowdstrike cyber-outlet to investigate the leak of DNC emails. Crowdstrike and the DNC denied the FBI access to the relevant servers but asserted that "Russian hacking" was the source of the leak.

The "Trump dossier" was opposition research ordered up and paid for by the Clinton/DNC mafia. Most of its content was obviously fake or patched together from publicly known facts. But it took up to now for U.S. media to point that out. The fake dossier, paid for by the Democrats, was used by the FBI under Obama to get FISA warrants to spy on Republican party operatives. We noted in January that the dossier was additionally used by the British and American deep state to sabotage Trump's plans for better relations with Russia ...

And it is not just about the DNC or the Clintons :

After the election the Democrats stopped paying for new Steele reports. But by then efforts to make the fake Steele reports public and to thereby sabotage Trump policies turned into high gear. McCain had already been involved in distributing the report and it was he or the Brits who paid for the last fake report Steele delivered ...

The Brits are knee deep involved in the Steele reports. There is the hiring of a (former?) British MI-6 agent to make up the dossier in the first place. Who came up with his name? The dossier was first peddled to McCain by a (former?) British ambassador. The British government green-lighted pushing the report to the FBI.

The last Steele report was not paid for by the DNC. It was delivered to British government and to John McCain. The purpose of this last report was to plant false evidence that Trump paid for "Russian hacking". There is a strong cooperation between U.S. and British intelligence.

Why were the highest levels of the British government involved in the "private investigation" that resulted in the Steele dossier. Did the Brits act on their own initiative or were they cut-outs for U.S. intelligence circles, especially for Obama's consigliere and CIA director John Brennan?

It is time for Congress to dig deeper into the undue British influence in this whole affair.

Crowd strike did not deny the FBI access to the computers. The FBI didn't ask for them. They relied on the report the nonpartisan computer forensics experts supplied.
Relying on previously debunked material is useless to your argument.

The dossier may have been used, but I find it unlikely that it would have been used on it's own to get a warrant.

And no one paid the Russians for the information in the dossier unless Steele did. FUSION GPS paid Steele to work as a contractor for info on Russian hacking after the DNC was hacked.
Steele discovered trumps connection in looking into Russia's activities in the hack and wikileaks release of the emails.

But the reports are clear that the dossier was only used to obtain one FISA warrant. For Carter Page.

I would guess Cruz as Trump was very nasty to him, but he folded as soon as Trump won the Nomination which would explain the stoppage of payment from the GOP person(s).

If it was used at all its outrageous.

But again, the fact that the FBI has today said they will finaally comply with the congressional subpoenas may mean we will have answers soon.

Where are those reports?

But even if this is the case, it proves everything I said in the OP.

As always, right on point.

It is also insane that a standing president was involved and used his office, federal employees, and resources to influence an election. Which Obama did and will be revealed.

Also, when the Seth Rich murder is finally revealed to be a state sanctioned assassination we are going to have serious issues to deal with as far as political corruption in this country is concerned.

Hired foreign intelligence agents involved in the election, defamatory propaganda against the head of the executive branch by our own intelligence community, political murder to cover up election fraud, inciting riots, voter suppression and intimidation,

And on and on.

The way any rational person can still hold onto the old paradigm is unfortunate.

This IS new, and offers an opportunity.

The sword is lifted off the scale and the conquered need not lament their woe. LoL

The value of peace just went up. Keeping this clean will be impossibly expensive. Beyond money....

If it was used in part to get Fisa warrants, then they did use it to go after their rivals.

On Tuesday evening, the political world was rocked by reports about the Clinton campaign and Democratic National Committee (DNC) having funded the now discredited ‘Trump Dossier.’ An important detail of the report reveals the FBI under James Comey agreed to reimburse the Clinton campaign and DNC for money it spent on the opposition research.

Where is this from?
I am hearing people saying that the dossier is being proven correct on so many points.
