Alcohol not tested by FDA

Topic started on 11-2-2005 @ 02:19 PM by Diabolita23

I'm not sure whether this belongs in this section or in the medical section, but here it is anyway. The FDA does not regulate alcohol. Therefore it could have as many fillers, chemical additives, colorants, etc. as it wants to. German beer is an exception because they have strict laws about their beer. There's nothing new about this, I just didn't know until recently and still can't believe it.

If you want someone to tell you what is OK to drink, go back to mommy. Are you an adult?

Stop trying to take my money and give it to the feds to control your life, I am not your mommy and I dont want my money spent helping you decide what to drink.

How is this an environmental issue?

Abolish the FDA!!! It keeps many beneficial drugs from being legal in the United States.

Very good observation. There is sooo much information on tobacco companies putting toxic mind altering additives to tobacco, and the tobacco companies are taking over some of our big food industries now and putting in questionable ingredients in our food, and the tobacco company even owns many alcohol companies.. As you could imagine alcohol is NOT JUST alcohol.

For info on how not to buy form companies supporting or owned by the tobacco industry go to the link below

What? You mean to tell me that it is "well known" and that the information available for free so that everyone can make an informed decision?

Yeah! Now we can abolish the FDA and save that tax money! Right?

No we need to REFORM the FDA and incorporate more oversight and checks and balances, because right now they are selling out to the highest bidder and really aren’t' out for our safety.

for examples of the FDA selling to check out just a FEW references I can point out just off the top of m head LOL

Wal-mart etc bribed the FDA etc to lower the standards of organic food so they can sell ANY food as “organic”

-FDA allowed laws passed that we don’t’ have the rights to know what’s in our food. Now we have anonymous increments on our labels like “flavorings” “color agents” etc IMAGINE what then is in booze!!!

This is a discussion about FDA regulation of alcohol, not about taxes, liberalism, cigarettes, or anything else.

The Food and Drug Administration doesn't regulate a widely consumed beverage??

German beer is an exception because they have strict laws about their beer.

The US regulates german beer because germans have strict laws about it???

I just didn't know until recently and still can't believe it.

Where did you find this out?

Doesn't the FDA regulate all foods and drugs??? The FDA doesn't regulate cigarettes, I beleive, but they do regulate beef, orange juice, etc, no?
