I would say criteria are needed first.

What makes a good president?

I adore him and I LOVE "The Life Aquatic".

There are 350 million Americans. You'll get about 400 million answers to this question.

Anyone that has not had their face in front of cameras within the past 8 years would be a start.

Not who but what kind of person?

I think we need a decisive leader.

This is the problem, You're already thinking of the "who" before picking criteria. If you think of the answer before posing the question, you might as well be on "Ancient Aliens".

Well. What criteria to you want him to have?
I agree with ketsuko with " A decisive leader.

I think patriotism would be another good quality to have if you want to lead the country.

No use in trying to come together as a nation, in regards to politics, unless we get more people to take the time to become better informed and most importantly, they learn to be honest.

There are too many among us that approach politics in a similar manner as football fans do. They don't care about the truth or doing the right thing. They just want their team to win, no matter what they have to do to get that win, and will do everything in their power to tear down the other side in the process.

Until we can get people past the neanderthal-like thinking, we are just coming together to yell at each other a bit more.

I can't think of any off hand. Somebody who has vast skills in diplomacy; is intelligent, considerate, yet firm, no wussies. Very knowledgeable in U.S. and world history, and able to select high quality cabinet members. (oh man, the usual characteristics we admire.) You know what they are.
Some one who has experience and knows how to run a government as complicated and expensive as ours.
