Bill O'Reilly paid $32 million to a Fox News colleague who threatened to sue him for alleged sexual misconduct.
The staggering sum -- paid to longtime Fox News legal analyst Lis Wiehl -- was revealed in a New York Times exposé on Saturday.
The story immediately raised new questions about the ongoing Justice Department investigation into Fox News.

O'Reilly lost his job at Fox in April after The Times revealed the existence of other settlements with women who had accused him of sexual harassment or verbal abuse.
The $32 million payout to Wiehl is far, far higher than any of the previously known settlements. Two sources confirmed the $32 million figure to CNN on condition of anonymity.

Yea I guess 32 million ain't too bad when ya main' 25 million a year. I don't see how Fox will be liable for anything other than lack of couth.

According to the newspaper's report, Wiehl's complaints "included allegations of repeated harassment, a non-consensual sexual relationship and the sending of gay pornography and other sexually explicit material to her." The story cited "people briefed on the matter."

I don't know but I am admittedly biased with Bill and despise him. I feel he has acted inappropriately with women in professional settings. He,imo, has that personality and just can't help himself to being a pig.(ya know when men were men/sarc) I think he is from an older school when harassment was just part of the scene with women, when today it is especially unwelcome.
So I am glad karma has taken a bite out of him because I feel him and a handful of others are the original hate merchants responsible for more divisiveness in our country than anyone else over the past decades.

Yep, 'cause that's what innocent folks do all the time, am I right?

I'm innocent, here's 32 million in hush money.

You could be hit by a fully insured drunk driver and become a paraplegic without seeing $32 million.

He's a disgusting guy to buy silence and I'm not down with the ethics of Lis Wiehl accepting the deal. Like Weinstein and his contract, O' Reilly would see money as a price for doing whatever he wanted.

Everyone who was involved in this deal gave a green light to sexual harassment. They made it 'pay to play.'

In her defense, it's hard not to take that sort of an offer, especially if your case may not be open and shut. Someone offers me that sort of change to stfu, I'd certainly consider it--depending upon, of course, the circumstance.

You can be a "stand up and tell the world what a PIG men are" kinda woman, or you can be a millionaire.

She took the money and said "nothing happened".

They both roll in mud at that point ...

Makes you wonder how much Fox News executives knew and when.

Seems suspicious, almost as if his contract renewal was contingent on the settlement deal and victim's silence.

If so the victim could have probably asked for even more.

Whatever the allegation, it must have been extremely embarrassing to Bill O'Reilly for him to fork out 32 million dollars!
This settlement may open up a whole new can of worms for any women who was sexually harassed by Bill or any other male reporter at Fox. WOW.

This may or may not be true, however anytime liberals come under attack for their corruption stuff like this comes out to change the focus. This is peanuts compared to what the Obama administration has done. Go figure.

It's easy to understand why she took the money. On the other hand, she let him carry on doing whatever he did to her to others.

this is not to go against anything you said, or change the connotation of events. but at what point do these people (an by "these people, I mean Hollywood elite") make so much damn money that you can buy innocence for a monetary figure?

She certainly did. No real denying that--it seems very unlikely that she wouldn't have known about such things. In an enclosed environment like a news studio/production center, there are no secrets. Like in any other office environment everyone knows, or at the very least, suspects strongly.

Good question, one that maybe someone ought to be asking of these folks.

Don't know if the story is true, but Bill O'Reilly is scum regardless.
Glad he got kicked off the air.

Just two questions,
#1. Do you have to pay income taxes on a settlement?
#2. How much Hooker time in hours, can you get for 32,000,000.00 ?
