Eye doctors often call these floaters. My brother was diagnosed as having them last month.

That's the medical angle, for what it's worth.

Maybe something out of the ordinary that's trying to blend in, but didn't for some reason?

It does have one or two ufo characteristics, like it being able to disappear like one.
