Read the book "The Descent".
Way different than the movie. Creepy, with a weird twist near the end that I didn't see coming.

ooh, i didn't know it was a book. thanks for the tip

If ravenous animals are your thing, check out Prey (2007).

Savage Harvest (1981) also gave me sleepless nights.

Otherwise, The Pit And the Pendulum (1991).
Quite horrific in parts, yet not without historical merit, and quite a stance against witch-hunts (Satanic-panic) at the time.

Hi there, just wanted to say that the movie In the mouth of madness is a very good movie. Such an old
one but still manage to creep the **** out of me to this day. I suggest you my scariest movies ive ever seen: It follows and Grave encounters and banshee chapter. Im 30 years old, always wanted to be legit scared from a horror movie since I was 13, never worked till I watched those not too long Ago. My first horror movie that scared me to tears and stArted my journey is The fly when I was 4. ^^Anyways, Be ready and Enjoy

But ohh, I forgot all about Event Horizon. Love that movie, another Sam Neil classic. He did better in Mouth of Madness though, IMO.

The original cut was way better. I'm not sure if you can get that now or not.

I'm a huge fan of Grave Encounters. Great found footage movie. The 2nd one is ok too.

In regards to Mouth of Madness, it is of course base don HP Lovecraft. A couple other great HPL inspired movies are "The Dagon", Re-Animator and The Beyond. Highly recommend all of them.

A few favourites of mine are:
Quatermass and the Pit.
Dog Soldiers
Amityville Horror (the original, not the remake)
The Thing
Dawn of the Dead (original, obviously)

And, if you want a short story, 'Whistle and I'll come to you my lad', by MR James.

I think you mean "Dagon" and "From beyond", and yes all 3 are awesome flicks.

To InS0MnI: Banshee Chapter is one of my favorite movies! If you like that one, I suggest one called "Altered" By Eduardo Sanchez who directed "The Blair Witch Project". Creepiest alien flick since "Fire in the Sky" imo.

A short musical interlude:

Almost Halloween boys and ghouls!

Not long to practise!

Final Destination movies.

Death is after you, what was your favorite, crazy co-incidence to die?

The plane crash, the car smash, the gym or the aquarium at the dentist?

Everybody disses those movies (yeah, just a teen thing - but so was Friday the 13th, or Elm Street).
I think they're rather creative ...

thought of another one i loved... crimson peak, guillermo del toro's take on gothic horror. it's over the top in the best way, and has a nice, slow build.

The movie descent is a love hate thing with me. I absolutely love the first half of the movie, but it just goes down hill form the first introduction of the "monsters". The monsters are so goofy and they ruin the atmosphere. The ending is the icing on the $hit cake.

it's one of those things where the first half is so good i cut the second half a generous amount of slack. and i hate almost every ending of everything, hehe.
