Hi out there and happy Friday!
I hope you are enjoying yourself and able to relax and check out (or, more likely, revisit) some amazing music.
I took my title from the following article:
www.thesubversal.com...
which asks a thought provoking question (for the hip hop heads) can any hip-hop collective top the legendary Dungeon Family?
In my opinion, the answer is no. (Wu is a really, really close second) I enjoy all types of music, but can say that I remember with absolute certainty the first time I ever heard ATLiens (friend's car- tape deck, lol but great system) and beginning to end I was taken to another world.
If you've heard it, you may understand what I mean.

If you don't have time for a whole album take a moment or two to enjoy these masterpieces off of Outkast's third album, Aquemeni. Unbelievable, but maybe even better than ATLiens, which may be even better than Outkast's peerless debut, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik. Here are a couple of samples from the album (which should really just be played start to end):

The whole album here:

Here are the producers who, along with Andre 3000 and Big Boi, put together one of the most interesting, harmonious, and creative (my personal favorite) sounds in rap.

Pun for me, is the greatest of all time.
The only reason he doesn’t get that title from many others is the duration of his career.

PS my brother beat Bender in his battle last week.

Blasphemy!

Lol.

I'm from the south though. Goodie Mob, Outkast, Witchdoctor, Rico, were all like superheros to me as a kid. Atliens even came with it's own comic book.

Big fan of Outkast but my vote is for Wu-Tang. The changed the game with their sound, look and comic book take on Kung fu movies. So many classics came from Wu and solo albums.

Honorable mention:

Hieroglyphics (Del tha Funky Homosapien, Casual, Souls of Mischief...)

Bad Boy (Biggie, Mase, Black Rob, Puff...)

Death Row (2pac, Dre, Snoop...)

N.W.A (Godfathers of gangsta rap. Ice Cube, Dre, MC Ren, Eazy-E...)

Def Squad (Redman, Keith Murray, & Eric Sermon = Flames)

Diplomats (Camron, Jim Jones, Jules Santana...)

Flipmode Squad (Busta, Spliff Star, NORE...)

I'm a HUGE Wu fan, so you won't get much of an argument from me.

For sure, there were some major talents out there (multi-media too!) and it might all just come down to preference.

Agreed. No right or wrong answer I guess. I grew up in Ohio and for some reason I have always preferred "east coast" hip hop. Always liked that gritty, dirty sound.

Yep.

Also, nice honorable mention!
I'm a big Flipmode Squad and Def Squad fan, also like G-Unit a lot especially now that Young Buck joined up.

Also Heiroglyphics, Death Row (minus Shug and all he stood for!) are legendary!

I don't have to watch the Grammys to know that was the single best moment in Grammy history.
