Can the "Alert" cooldown be reduced?

I'm not sure how long the timer between uses on the report function is, but with the current state of the site I think it really needs to be reduced or removed entirely. Or better yet, replaced with a less complex system, the current one seems messy and weird to me.

Oh yeah, and please fix the spelling error in the message box. "Aboout" drives me crazy every time.

Maybe you need to cool down with the alert a bit? I believe I used it once in my entire time here.
Take a trip to 4chan maybe you just need a perspective adjustment?

I had to go check it out, so I went to the alert button. Either they fixed the spelling already, or it's only spelled that way for Eastern Canadians...😉

Just how much are you using the button, to have broken it? 🤔

417 threads made and only 43 of those were real threads. All the others were from you hitting that alert button. Maybe lay off the alert button a bit?

I hope most of them were on you.

Once you have written an alert and click on SEND, a message appears on screen imposing a delay before the function is used again.

I wouldn't doubt it. I've been told my days here are numbered.

I've had almost 10,000 posts and maybe alerted 4-5 times. Perhaps you're mistaking it's usefulness and when and why it's called for?

*edit to 1st reply:

You DO know a single alert hit gets to every single mod all at once for review rt?

1 alert x all the mods is a lot... and a ton more if you keep alerting all day...

Perhaps a better understanding of why it's there?

I think it works by starting a thread in the Mods-only forum.

the time out - serves a purpose - its to prevent cockwombles flooding the alert Fn with spurious " alerts " of any type

further - i am skeptical that one person can find enough posts // threads that are ACTUALLY worthy of mod action

are you :

a - trawling the site looking for things to be offended about ?

b - so insecure that you should not actually be on the internet ?

Haven't hit that button in a long while but since I'm mostly in the off-topic section there isn't as much need for me to alert any mods...

But I cannot understand all the personal remarks. When I was a lot more active on ATS there was this notion that intelligent debate and decorum was something we regarded as important and every member should help out in keeping this site better than the rest.

If hitting a alert button by you has helped us even in the smallest way then I have to thank you for keeping up the good work...

Peace

Didn't even know we had one.

Really had to look for it, lol.

We used to have a flag this post button, if I recall, or not.
