Russia has helped Kim develop a nuclear capability

I have written a number of times over the past couple of years that North Korea obviously got help from somewhere to develop a nuclear capability. I have also written about the potential for Russia to arm another state with a small nuclear capability if it suited Russia's foreign and military interests.

I was just watching a night time BBC documentary about North Korea's nuclear development and it reveals that Kim is using parts and other material found in Ukraine. There is a link to Ukraine.

www.nytimes.com...

North Korea’s Missile Success Is Linked to Ukrainian Plant, Investigators Say

North Korea’s success in testing an intercontinental ballistic missile that appears able to reach the United States was made possible by black-market purchases of powerful rocket engines probably from a Ukrainian factory with historical ties to Russia’s missile program, according to an expert analysis being published Monday and classified assessments by American intelligence agencies.

The BBC documentary confirms this earlier NYT report. Ukraine have always denied this, but there is a strong black market that could easily have been utilised by Russia and North Korea.

Also, Russia has just banned its soldiers from publishing selfies and blogs online. Up to their old totalitarian ways. Well, Mr Putin, your choice in friends leaves a lot to be desired.

www.dw.com...

Where did North Korea get its missile technology? A new media report claims North Korea was able to develop its missile system after buying rocket engines on the black market in Ukraine. Kyiv denies the link. In this international mystery, the clues lead to Russia.

Elleman has analyzed North Korean medium-range and intercontinental ballistic missiles of the Hwasong 12 and 14 types, whose extended range holds the potential to hit the United States. He concluded that the surprisingly fast development in the last two years has only been possible with the help of foreign suppliers, meaning countries from the former Soviet Union. Even the German missile expert Robert Schmucker from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) agreed with Elleman's analysis, although he avoided any explicit accusations. Experts believe that the one-chamber engine used in the latest Hwasong missiles is reminiscent of the Soviet RD-250 rocket engine, which had two chambers and was developed in the 1960s.

Russia have been very busy indeed. I don't believe this is just a black market criminal thing. I think it has clearance all the way to the top. Russia and North Korea share a border and it is easy for Russia to supply North Korea.

Hey, why not? It's not like we'd try to vilify Russia ever, at all...

I would be surprised if Russia were not supplying Kim with weaponry. Money is money, a sale is a sale, with Russia also being sanctioned it makes sense they would happily deal with Kim, I bet there is a strategic advantage also for them to do so.

Believable
The only reason NK exists as a separate country is they wanted a Soviet Union communist friendly country to flank China

I also wouldn't surprised if Russia secretly gave aid to the North Korean Elites and that they may have plans to send tanks should there be an uprising a la Prague Spring.

The links in the OP are several months old, and the NK-Russia nuke story has already been debunked. It was a smear-job, and not a very effective one.

Because Ukrainian black market rocket engines are nukes from Russia right?

So North korea buying rocket engines from Ukraine, a Neo-nazi, staunchly Anti-Russian state, means that Russia helped them?

This story seems a bit suspect.

Russia has been very tight with the export of weapons to North Korea since the 1980s. They fell out of favour with Moscow in the early 70s and things have only gotten worse between Pyongyang and Moscow since then.

China, or at least elements with the Chinese Government, have certainly helped North Korea's missile program but then again they don't really have a reason not to.

Even when the Soviet Union was around North Korea was closer to the Chinese sphere of influence than the Soviet one.

They've never really been a client of either save for a brief period from 1948-1950, since the guiding ideology of the DPRK, Juche, stresses self-reliance and independence over international socialism.

I'd put my money on China before Russia.

North Korea are the perfect buffer between the US and the chinese border
North Korea are the perfect cannon fodder for China should a war with the US/West ever break out. Think about it, North Korea's a colossal military problem for any enemy...

Russia (if you ignore the nonsense from the Media) are quite experienced when it comes to war and mass destruction.
They are one of the more genuine places on Earth when it comes to peace and cooperation on ensuring another Hitler never rises.

Yes, I know many of you dont believe it.. but if you listened to Putins words instead of the CNN version you'd see the reality

NYT has little cred, IMO.

I will, however, agree with the premise.

RUSSIA THROWS NORTH KOREA LIFELINE TO STYMIE REGIME CHANGE BY REUTERS OCTOBER 5, 2017 01:06

MOSCOW - Russia is quietly boosting economic support for North Korea to try to stymie any US-led push to oust Kim Jong Un as Moscow fears his fall would sap its regional clout and allow US troops to deploy on Russia's eastern border. Though Moscow wants to try to improve battered US-Russia relations in the increasingly slim hope of relief from Western sanctions over Ukraine, it remains strongly opposed to what it sees as Washington's meddling in other countries' affairs, according to Russian diplomats and analysts familiar with the Kremlin's thinking. Russia is already angry about a build-up of US-led NATO forces on its western borders in Europe and does not want any replication on its Asian flank, the sources added. Yet while Russia has an interest in protecting North Korea, which started life as a Soviet satellite state, it is not giving Pyongyang a free pass: it backed tougher United Nations sanctions against North Korea over its nuclear tests last month. At the same time Moscow is playing a fraught double game, by quietly offering North Korea a slender lifeline to help insulate it from US-led efforts to isolate it economically.

It's not just them saying it. It is LOADS of media sources. Do a search and don't be lazy.

NYT is fine by me. Thy are very informative.

There is actually the very real possibility that North Korea did get their hands on a nuclear weapon to use as a guide, just not from Russia. There have been persistent rumors that a number of Soviet weapons went missing after the breakup of the Soviet Union. A former Soviet Bloc member could make a decent amount of money selling one of those weapons under the table.

I did read more carefully. LOOK at all the sources. Do a search. See for yourself. I am just floating this. Everyone has known for months about this. The BBC CONFIRMED this only today. I can't link to the documentary as it is only being shown on their news channel on the TV. Search for yourself, make up your own mind.

Putin is also making friends with Saudi Arabia. He accepted a visit from them and will be visiting there soon.

You are fools to underestimate him. He is an incredibly intelligent politician. The Western sell out corps(e)' zombie idiots come and go, but he is ALWAYS there. He has a hugely streamlined infrastructure and network he has built up over many years. He is a multi billionaire. He is much more powerful than Trump will ever be. Trump only gets max 8 years as a figurehead. Putin really is the Godfather and BOSS. He is running rings round the West right now. In other news, U.S implodes gunning itself to hell, doing its enemies' work for them even better than they can.

Don't worry Lil Kim, the U.S will do all your work for you.

Don't EVER accuse me of NOT reading carefully. I did a degree in English Literature. you insult me by even suggesting that. Picking one word out like that. Your critical senses are not too well developed are they. Work on that.

Up to you what you think. I ask all the other readers and members to search this for themselves. The Authorities are saying this not me. You are disagreeing with the Western Governments and all MSM when you say this is not the case.

Why defend your enemy. You are crazy?
