The stock prices for gun makers always spike when a mass shooting or other event starts up the Second Amendment debate again.
You're right -- and that's something we have to keep in mind when thinking about these events. We do expect firearm sales to increase whenever the masses feel threatened, and events like this make the masses feel threatened. The increased sales are just a natural and expected result or consequence of the event.
Earlier I used the example of an ATS thread a week or so ago about someone on another board "predicting" the Vegas shooting... basically someone claiming they had inside knowledge that Michael Chertoff was going to stage an event in order to sell his security equipment to Casinos. Maybe he did -- I sure don't know. But I do know that Chertoff selling more equipment would have happened after such an event whether he was the mastermind of the event or not.

One of the more interesting claims made over the weekend was that most major casinos use back-scatter X-ray technology to monitor their casino floors. This allows them to see hidden weapons (and also cheating devices like card-counting computers).
This means that there is no way Mandalay Bay's security didn't know that Paddock was hauling a crap-ton of guns up to his room. They would have seen them in X-rays of his suitcases.
That they didn't call the police on him days before only makes any sense if the FBI had already told this was going to happen.
Now, let's assume that ISIS has smelled a rat and realizes this is a setup. They show up dressed as security guards, because that's about the only way they'll be able to walk around the casino carrying guns and not raise an alarm. They kill Paddock and stage the shooting, with one or more shooters strategically placed in the crowd, and possibly one guy shooting from Paddock's room.
(I remain unconvinced that any shots actually were fired from his room.)
The guy who killed Paddock -- or one of them, at least -- got wounded during the confrontation. He runs into the real police while escaping, but since he's dressed as a security guard he's able to con his way out of it and escapes.

Well they've confirmed the only guns they have been unable to trace are ones he purchased at gun fairs etc. All the others have been traced whether through background checks. He purchased from Texax Nevada Utah and California with most being purchased all from one store Sportsman's Warehouse, all States require a permit for conceal & carry with California requiring handguns and assault weapons to be registered but you're quite correct, I used the wrong word registered...I'm English forgive me what I meant was they were purchased in his own name with background checks and therefore easily traceable apologies
Because When monsters plan a massacre like this they set themselves up to suck every shekel out of the opportunity

The one thing that confused me were.so many guns
He was at a gun show a few days before. Maybe he had the.guns he wanted rid of with him and that is why he left the others at home. Looks like gun shows all the time in Vegas.
This reminds me of all the old mob movies, where you had to pay the mob to be safe and do business.
Dave Newton --so many guns. So many magazines. Stacks and stacks of magazines everywhere. Just in suitcases all neatly stacked against pillars, around the room, all stacked up, rifles placed all throughout. All kinds of monitors and electrical equipment he had in there. It just looked like almost a gun store.

I just read something on another site is Jesus Campos an illegal...
I was wondering if that info would become part of the story...like, to explain why Campos is not putting his face out there.
Matthew Donaldson: My initial scan, coming in the room with my rifle is just seein' I'm seeing one male down, bleeding from the face. He was not a threat. Kept going, kept going, kept going.
Bill Whitaker: Said one male down. That was the shooter?
Matthew Donaldson: Yes.
Bill Whitaker: Stephen Paddock?
Bill Whitaker: What were his wounds?
Dave Newton: I didn't see any apparent wounds to his head. But I did see a lotta blood that had come outta his mouth.
Joshua Bitsko: There was-- a bloody revolver I think-- nearby. Nearby him that was on the ground consistent with him shootin' himself.
