The one thing that confused me were.so many guns He was at a gun show a few days before. Maybe he had the.guns he wanted rid of with him and that is why he left the others at home. Looks like gun shows all the time in Vegas.

Going back to the K-9 cops from 60 minutes who were first in the hotel room (even though the police were supposedly waiting for SWAT to enter), I noticed this guy (K-9 shirt) in the video from the 'New Video' thread, just posted:

They way he is just casually milling around while people run out -- doing nothing, not even ducking or looking to see where the gunfire is coming from -- doesn't sit well with me.

The video:

Maybe inconsequential...or not.

How long did it take the K-9 guys to get to the shooter's room? Did anyone watch 60 mins, last night? I don't have cable and didn't get to watch.

The stock prices for gun makers always spike when a mass shooting or other event starts up the Second Amendment debate again.

You're right -- and that's something we have to keep in mind when thinking about these events. We do expect firearm sales to increase whenever the masses feel threatened, and events like this make the masses feel threatened. The increased sales are just a natural and expected result or consequence of the event.

Earlier I used the example of an ATS thread a week or so ago about someone on another board "predicting" the Vegas shooting... basically someone claiming they had inside knowledge that Michael Chertoff was going to stage an event in order to sell his security equipment to Casinos. Maybe he did -- I sure don't know. But I do know that Chertoff selling more equipment would have happened after such an event whether he was the mastermind of the event or not.

This reminds me of all the old mob movies, where you had to pay the mob to be safe and do business.

One of the more interesting claims made over the weekend was that most major casinos use back-scatter X-ray technology to monitor their casino floors. This allows them to see hidden weapons (and also cheating devices like card-counting computers).

I find that difficult to believe for a few reasons. With masses of bodies, I'm not sure how practical it would be. It would also be a health risk for their customers, and especially for their employees. Not to mention privacy violations. Pretty much all the reasons people complained about the TSA using the backscatter x-rays but times 10.

This means that there is no way Mandalay Bay's security didn't know that Paddock was hauling a crap-ton of guns up to his room. They would have seen them in X-rays of his suitcases.

Maybe. Maybe not. I haven't confirmed this in any way, but it might also be possible that Paddock brought the weapons up via the staircase from the parking garage. This would put him right at the door to the suite, and he could bypass the front desk completely. His comings and goings via the valet parking would be monitored, but not coming and going from the free parking garage.

And, of course, money talks. Paddock could have slipped a few bills to the right security guys. And since he was a regular, they wouldn't have suspected anything. With the gun show coming up, it would be reasonable for them to not be suspicious.

That they didn't call the police on him days before only makes any sense if the FBI had already told this was going to happen.

Maybe they did call someone... but that someone was in on the sting, and so the reports went nowhere. Or maybe the Feds did alert security that this guy was working for them and leave him be.

Now, let's assume that ISIS has smelled a rat and realizes this is a setup. They show up dressed as security guards, because that's about the only way they'll be able to walk around the casino carrying guns and not raise an alarm. They kill Paddock and stage the shooting, with one or more shooters strategically placed in the crowd, and possibly one guy shooting from Paddock's room.

I think this is the basic scenario -- whether the "buyers" realized it was a set up or if they just wanted to stage an attack. Whoever the "buyers" were.

(I remain unconvinced that any shots actually were fired from his room.)

I believe that (for now) only because there were so many reports of shots from the Mandalay Bay upper floors both on police audio and witness accounts. I'm more likely to believe that the room where the photos were taken was not the room that the shots were fired from. As others have noted, there should have been far more visual evidence of the level of gunfire that took place.

The guy who killed Paddock -- or one of them, at least -- got wounded during the confrontation. He runs into the real police while escaping, but since he's dressed as a security guard he's able to con his way out of it and escapes.

Or he was killed -- like the Aussie man said. But this is being covered up by the Feds for the purposes of their own activities and investigation... and because the casinos don't want their guests to know that the security guards cannot be trusted.

Well they've confirmed the only guns they have been unable to trace are ones he purchased at gun fairs etc. All the others have been traced whether through background checks. He purchased from Texax Nevada Utah and California with most being purchased all from one store Sportsman's Warehouse, all States require a permit for conceal & carry with California requiring handguns and assault weapons to be registered but you're quite correct, I used the wrong word registered...I'm English forgive me
what I meant was they were purchased in his own name with background checks and therefore easily traceable apologies

Thank you! All the talk about different types of weapons and different gun laws gets me all confused too -- so no worries! Thanks for the info -- much appreciated.

Because When monsters plan a massacre like this they set themselves up to suck every shekel out of the opportunity

Maybe even including GoFundMe accounts for non-existent security guards??? What a way to milk their atrocity, eh? Laughing all the way to the bank at the "suckers" and useful idiots who donated...

I don't mean to be harsh or cynical at the good-hearted folks who donated. Just more angry at myself for initially falling for it myself. Sheesh Bo!

Following up on something I ran across out there...

Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas’ stylish guest rooms and suites are located on floors 35 to 39 of the Mandalay Bay tower...

Four Seasons

Four Seasons Hotels Ltd., trading as Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, is a Canadian international luxury hospitality company[2] headquartered in Toronto, Ontario.[3] It operates more than 100 hotels worldwide.[4] Since 2007, Bill Gates and Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal have been majority owners of the company.[5]

That's why I think we have to look at him trying to wheel and deal, especially within a gun show coming soon in Vegas. And someone who did this gun trading and spent a lot of time in Vegas anyway would be the perfect "agent" to meet with shady characters that the Feds wanted to keep an eye on (or set up).

That could very well be too. We know he bought and sold guns. And he had bought many just during the last year. Maybe he wanted to sell of a few of his older and less exciting guns, and maybe even some newer ones that just didn't live up to his expectations.

Yup! That may be exactly what it is. It wouldn't be the first time unions have resorted to violent tactics to get what they want... and in this case, unionizing every casino in Vegas... because, ya know, they wouldn't want to be next, right? And if they won't take care of their security guards, then the security guards won't take care of them.

All speculation... but not inconsistent with witness reports.

Reading it now. A lot of interesting things.

This one I had to share, right away:

Dave Newton --so many guns. So many magazines. Stacks and stacks of magazines everywhere. Just in suitcases all neatly stacked against pillars, around the room, all stacked up, rifles placed all throughout. All kinds of monitors and electrical equipment he had in there. It just looked like almost a gun store.

I have read that too. Specifically that he is here under DACA status. I tried to track it down, but just like everything else with this guy, there is absolutely nothing to find!

I was wondering if that info would become part of the story...like, to explain why Campos is not putting his face out there and why we can't find much trace of him.

When I first read that, it occurred to me that he may have come over the border as an "unaccompanied minor" during that wave a few years ago. If there really is a security guard named Jesus Campos, that may not even be his real name... there might be much about such a person that he would not want known and therefore would not want the media attention.

I wonder if the security guard union is known for hiring those here under DACA status?

Matthew Donaldson: My initial scan, coming in the room with my rifle is just seein' I'm seeing one male down, bleeding from the face. He was not a threat. Kept going, kept going, kept going.

Bill Whitaker: Said one male down. That was the shooter?

Matthew Donaldson: Yes.

Bill Whitaker: Stephen Paddock?

Bill Whitaker: What were his wounds?

Dave Newton: I didn't see any apparent wounds to his head. But I did see a lotta blood that had come outta his mouth.

Joshua Bitsko: There was-- a bloody revolver I think-- nearby. Nearby him that was on the ground consistent with him shootin' himself.

That rules out any police/SWAT moving the revolver.

AND, it makes it even more suspicious that the trail of blood goes across his chest and meets up with the blood on the carpet. The revolver had to have been placed in that position after he was down. His hand is also not near it and I find it implausible/impossible that he had his arm across his chest, holding the revolver, while down and shot in the mouth, then lifted it to throw the revolver above him, then moved his arm back down by his side.

Probably because people would harass him non stop with things like.."based on my opinion and what some keyboard detective on 4Chan says you aren't a real person"

Also not every hero wants to put his face out there..
Maybe it's because the investigation is ongoing..

Could it be he is an illegal or something else..sure but since I'm a huge fan of Occam my guess is the 3 things above are more likely than something nefarious.

That also rules out any story that describes the differences in the blood pools as having occurred when he was face down and freshly wounded versus being turned over after a period of time having elapsed and allowed the blood to congeal in his head before leaking out after being turned over.

They mention the 200 shots through the door and said it looked like swiss cheese. I am still skeptical of how 190 bullet holes are on the portions of the door that are not visible. I would think the majority would be in the portion of the door (about half the door) that is visible...the middle section.

And, the part where they talk about the explosives used to open the door...again, there is no sign of explosives having been used.

PLUS, they had the key card that Campos reportedly gave them. They spent time rigging the door with explosives when they could have just used the key card...that doesn't sound logical.
