I think the most obvious answer to explain the motive is the correct one

Law Suits will target the Hotel.

Liability lawsuits are nothing new, even in mass causality events.

Except he isn't number one, he's dead. Kind of hard to be on the Most Wanted list at that point.

Deadliest mass shooter in American History? Thats number 1 as his name will now live in infamy.

I fear that this is a shortlived #1.
Some other whackjob will find a need to break the record.
Football stadium?

My hubs and I were just discussing this.

We've had school shootings, military, course race runs and all and all...

Think open aired stadiums for football, etc.

It's a terrifying thought.

Correct, but the Colorado movie theater wasn't held liable. You can't predict crazy, and if you try, any crowded event will have TSA like measures.

Only thing they could get the hotel on is why did he have so many suitcases. Anyone who's ever been to a large casino hotel wouldn't ask that question.

I understand that, I was merely pointing out it would be nothing new if suits were filed in his made up criminal justice class where they suddenly cover torts.

I was just adding to your point. I can tell neither of us are privy to OP's theory.

The Original Poster's modus operandi can be gleaned from some previous threads by 'other' posters the past few months.

Imagine that. Always baffled me on how some would have such an agenda.

I don't come here to change minds, I come to have mine changed.

For this event, that happened a few days ago? Yes. Only one that I am aware of here on ATS.

Actually, it really began around the Ukraine affair. I think.

You know what, I think you're correct. It's like olfactory fatigue, after awhile you get used to the smell of s***.

An obvious motive -- the shooter was insanely jealous (with emphasis on "insane"). He probably found out his girlfriend had an affair (or a few affairs) with some country and western fans. He shot everyone just because of that.

Think OJ Simpson -- people who are sick with jealousy can do horrible and irrational things.

Here is my rational --

1. He loved guns. That can be (not necessarily, but can be) and indication of strong insecurity about your relationships.

2. He was very abusive to his girlfriend, another indication of strong insecurity in relationships.

3. According to Wikipedia, addiction is a well recognized association with morbid jealousy, and he was clearly addicted to gambling.

4. He had some fight with his girlfriend towards the end -- was it over sexual infidelity?

Weirdly, I've searched the web for someone else for this motive theory and found absolutely nothing -- no good matches for Paddock and jealousy. So maybe, if this was his true motive, it will be documented here, in this old retired ATS thread. I wanted to get this out there. Thanks for listening.
