Just wondering if anybody could help me with identifying the origin of this figurine. I thinks its either Ubaid or Sumerian not sure

I have seen a picture of one similar to that somewhere on the net. I read the description but cannot remember which culture made that one. It could have been Sumeria, but I honestly can't remember. That was about three or four years ago when I researched a lot of that and it is all blended together in my mind. I don't think the base was on the one I saw, it was just the top half and broken if I am remembering right.

I think you nailed it with Ubaid. Is this old? Do you think the face of the mother was once more serpentine?
