There is no logical reason that prostitution is illegal.

They should allow the women to file as independent contractors and require weekly STD / Drug screenings. It appears to work well in Nevada.

Local government can tax the snot out of it.

It is crazy that you can pay someone to have sex on camera and it is perfectly acceptable, but you can't pay someone to just have sex without the filming.

This mindset of "you know it's bad, so we will "compromise" by allowing extortion level income taxes."

Similar to the idiots in Colorado accepting legalization under massive income tax rates.

The people imprisoning and wrecking lives should not get a giant cut from everything.

We have so many laws and taxes on top of taxes, it has metastasized into a cancer at this point.

Both should be legal. And both should be something you're not proud of.

This an apples to oranges comparison. Maybe because prostitution if more risky, which abortion may be an only option in a medical emergency, or in a rape case for example. Prostitution has a risk of human trafficking going up if legal?

In a few places in Nevada, prostitution through legal brothels, is legal.

Escort services are legal.

Probably due to the Christian belief of forgiveness. It is easier to get forgiveness than ask for permission.

There is no good argument for legal sex prostitution.

Sex is a product? McDonald's, Budweiser, DuPont, Monsanto, Disney, every scumbag on Earth in a capitalist society would con, lie, trick, drug, kidnap, breed, extort, pimp out your mother and daughter, sister cousin niece aunty for promissory notes backed by lies. Every woman would be tied into a brick wall and injected with drugs and have technology built to bite off dicks after 30 seconds if you don't pay.

Is there any doubt the depths of human depravity? Oh, You make laws against that..

There are laws against everything already. It takes a law to make a person decent then what is the value of life?

because if prostitution were legal, and de-stigmatized, all women would just get divorced and become prostitutes. Society would crumble as women took control of the world markets. Men would become second class citizens, dominated by even mildly attractive women. The most attractive women would rise to the top ranks of government and extreme leftist views would be the law of the land. Oh, did you leave the toilet seat up? Life in prison!!!

In the UK you can indeed sell sex from your own home and its technically legal the problem arises when people choose to ply there trade on the streets.

Technically its the oldest profession in the world, its the moral ambiguity and the hang-ups that the western civilization have with sex that's the real issue.

Fifty bucks!? No way, Jose. You get what you pay for.

The church can't be taxed, so why do we have those? Hey. We could ditch the churches and have prostitutes instead. But then we'd really need free healthcare for all the checkups and penicillin shots.

That's why we don't have nationwide prostitution: it would totally break the ACA.

Wait. If it would break the ACA why doesn't President Trump legalize prostitution?

because it would create a haven for organized criminal groups where they would exploit loopholes in the laws to force innocent women into prostitution against their will through blackmail or other means. it's illegal for the sake of protecting women against organized crime.

Accept organized crime is already widely prevalent throughout most towns and cities and is directly linked to prostitution and sex trade.

Far as i can see legalization would instill a modicum or control and regulation that simply cannot exist or function whilst gangsters are in control but that being said our respective gooberments are after all the biggest gang in the land.

In answer to the OPs question, prostitution is illegal because it causes the spread of filth, such as venereal and AIDS.

Except that in Reno Nevada for example, where it's legal, taxed and highly regulated, they aren't spreading and STD's because the women don't have unprotected sex and are tested every other week. So when you look st the facts, legalized and regulated prostitution does the exact opposite of your claims.

You'd also have people posing as trans genderers so they could go into the women's restrooms just to leave the toilet seats up. They'd do it in the middle of the workday to achieve maximum anger.
