Everything is going to be okay!

Yeah, I know! Since I've stopped caring, I've gotten quite a bit happier. Caring is a drag, and a waste of my time. Life is too damn short to care.

You know you can still care and not let it get to you, right?

great song by the way.

Really?? There have been several threads regarding the evil democrats taking advantage of this situation to push gun control legislation. The response has been, don't punish me for what that guy did by making it hard for me to purchase guns. This OP falls right into that.

Why punish guns or gun owners?

I wanted to focus on the evil of the shooter.

If you want to start a "guns are evil" thread, go ahead.

What exactly is wrong with such a response?

Well, since I stopped caring -- absolutely nothing!

You should change the mood on your avatar then.

Since you're going to such dramatic lengths to tell everybody how you don't care, I don't think "hopeful" really works for you anymore.

Always sad when somebody would rather resort to drama queen antics rather than engage in any sort of discussion. Ah well.

Punish is a subjective term here.

Not that I care. Buy 1000 guns, or a million guns! Automatic weapons? Sure! Get 'em without a background check! No licenses needed! I don't care!

I'm going to go with the guy who pulled the trigger, unless you have information to prove otherwise.

The guy who pulled the trigger? I'm not try'n to
hardtime you DB. But am I right to assume you were
vague for a reason? Or do you just believe the guy suicided
in the room is the guy?

Bad people do bad things. That is for sure. But I'm not one that gets in to that "good vs evil" mumbo jumbo.

I remember a speech William Cooper once gave in which he says, in a nutshell, that it is wrong to label people as "evil" because it does not precipitate a reasonable, logical discussion on these sorts of issues.

Bad people can often see in their minds as their actions being reasonably justified. They rationalize what they are doing or what they are about to do as being the right thing to do to cure a perceived problem or injustice.

The ends justify the means.

People will always do sucky things. So don't freak out every time they do that and make more laws since that will not help.

If there's a cure to "fix" people then great! But then again that touches on the people's rights issue. Should we force that "cure" on people? Especially on psychopaths and sociopaths who did nothing wrong?

Agreed.

Maybe that's why so many people apply the "evil" label. It conveniently removes intelligent dialogue from the discussion and instead places a convenient "label" in order to feel more safe.

Yes. The guy who suicided himself is the shooter.

In my opinion.

Unless you have evidence that proves otherwise. . . .

I think that there are truly evil/bad/wrong people.

Not everyone can be as wonderful as me.

The question is what makes people "evil"? Evil is relative and usually religious or spiritual in nature.

Yeah.

You're right. But I used the term evil because I thought it most apt. Again, not trying to get all spiritual.

But sometimes "evil" may be a better descriptor than, "asshole flaming dickhead douche bag loser"

It's certainly shorter.

Cooper was great, and yet horrible at the same time.

He pushed a lot of nonsense, while being spot-on on other things.

See.

See how easily people can justify their beliefs in their own mind?

Good and evil are subjective.
