don't get your panties bunched up. nothing is going to change, we've all seen this movie before...hand wringing and shouts of "we have to do something" for a few days, and then we all go back to living our lives.....same old thing, different day

If they would actually educate themselves on what they are talking about they may be able to truly get something done.

As it stands, they look like uneducated fools when they open theirs mouths. It is only others that are equally as poorly educated in this sphere that will nod their heads and agree.

a bit of a thread jack: the same can be said about the war on cannabis.

I said it in another thread and I will say it here as well.

(last i read) The guy was well off financially, did not have a rap sheet, was not in and out of a mental hospital so no red flags in the system.

What legislation would have any effect on him prior to his rampage?

Nothing really, short of an all out ban on semi-automatic long guns and even that would be questionable.

1) Silencers are already illegal
2) Suppressors interfere with aim and do not really suppress sound
3) Flash Suppressors interfere with aim and are only to keep down muzzle flash
4) The extreme ignorance of our politicians on whatever the subject of the day is precisely the reason stuff doesn't get done right

In summation : Politicians = total extreme ignorance

I agree its absurd but I have actually seen family members that should know better saying maybe we need to pass something.

Knee jerk reactions in the face of a tragedy rarely get us good laws.

That's the challenge with a democracy, it's almost always reactive instead of proactive. You end up with bonehead legislation like Dodd-Frank that does the exact opposite of what it was intended to do I am fearful that any firearms legislation will end up doing the exact same thing.

Its not connected at all. Clinton is doing the knee jerk reaction thing that all the Leftists do, scream gun control after every shooting. I doubt she even thought about this before she said it. But the suppressor legislation just gave her a platform for complaint. Clinton, the whole evil Leftist crowd always jump the anti-2nd shark after every incident. Its what they do, its in their DNA, its their serving up of virtue signaling to their brainwashed masses.

The kind that makes semi-auto rifles unobtainable by law abiding citizens.
That's why they staged this event, and framed that guy.

Obviously they can't go for rifles next, but look to see high capacity magazines banned federally in the coming months.
The push continues, at any cost, to disarm the population.

This is a strange one so far. Seems like your average rich American. They will have to piece together his life and see what happened to trigger this.

You think someone doing this would leave a note or a Manifesto or something.

Automatic weapons are already illegal. There was no clue that this guy was going to do this killing spree. If he did not have a gun, he could easily make a bomb and have brought that down there and killed just as many people. According to the police, he had explosives at his house, those chemicals are not that hard to get.

Clinton would have taken away all our guns if she would have got into the White house, except of course her families or the top people running the system, they would keep their guns.

Clinton is an idiot, and so is everyone else pushing gun control.

Read the GD bill of rights.

Start with the second,4th,5th,9th,and 10th, and 14th amendments.

And comprehend what this means.

The Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution provides, "No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."

People need to get this through their thick heads.
