One of the individuals was on a terrorist watch list... Nothing new I supposed except that at least this time the plot was foiled. A Cell phone was being used as a triggering device for some gas canisters... BAN ALL CELL PHONES !!
Of course they want tougher security laws like searching without a warrant... Maybe they should just copy some of the recent laws America has made ?

Mr Collomb argued that the Paris incident and a knife attack in Marseille on Sunday that left two women dead underlined the importance of tough new security laws.

One of the women had her throat slit... If I remember correctly both were younger than 25/// edit to add 17 and 20 years old www.bbc.co.uk...
I wonder sometimes if all this was not planned for a long term crack down on everyone's freedoms.. Sure seems to be that is the way things are going.

At least 12 planned attacks in France have been foiled since the start of the year, officials claim.
Maybe watch list work sometimes before an incident ?

There was a football game and a security check point. Guy rams the check point sending a police officer flying. Guy gets out of car and stabs police officer several times and then flees the scene.... Later a different van was stopped by police...but the van took off and a police pursuit was instigated.. van rams four other people before the van crashes.. The Perp and his ISIS flag are now in police custody. Yes he was supposedly on a watch list..

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau greeted a planeload of weary Syrian refugees landing in Toronto early Friday, telling the first to disembark that “you’re safe at home now” as he handed them winter coats.

“Tonight they step off the plane as refugees, but they walk out of this terminal as permanent residents of Canada,” Mr. Trudeau told government employees gathered at the airport.

“This is a wonderful night where we get to show not just a planeload of new Canadians what Canada is all about, but we get to show the world how to open our hearts and welcome people who are fleeing extraordinarily difficult straits,” the prime minister said.

As predicted the French passed the new security bill.
www.nytimes.com...

PARIS — The French government on Tuesday moved a significant step closer to making permanent some of the emergency measures put in place after the terrorist attacks of 2015, expanding the powers of the security forces to combat terrorism in ways that critics say may also curtail civil liberties.

The legislation, approved by a wide margin in the lower house of the French Parliament, codifies measures like search and seizure and house arrest without judicial review — steps once considered exceptional — and effectively institutionalizes a trade-off between security and personal liberty.

You have to wonder would any of this been necessary without the open arms and open borders to a people who thoughts on social issues is stuck some where in the 7th century ?
