You'd have to paint it black, too. They don't think it's evil if it's painted pink. Even if it has skulls on it.

Of course we cant blame it all on guns but do deny guns have something to do with this is ridiculous.

Like any problem, this one should be dealt with on many levels:

crime
morality
psychology
terrorism
gun laws
the culture of hatred and violence our mass media encourages
psychotropic drugs
and I’m sure other issues.

Its not one thing, it’s a number of elements that feed this horrible phenomena of mass violence

The question is are we doing anything to stem the tide of this violence.

I don't think we are doing anything. When they happen all we do is bicker

There's no real debate about doing anything tangible to deal with this issue

Maybe nothing can be done, I'm sorry to say

AHOLEs lyin brian williams and DICK blumenthal(D) on msnbc railing for gun control
even though we dont know what was used
"when will americans have enough to move the 2nd" is what williams asked

The agenda is exposed.

When congress gets serious for a cure for cancer or stopping auto accidents let me know.

I don’t know whether he has an agenda or not, I’m just saying loads of people believe guns are a big problem, and they don’t have an agenda just a conviction

so you could kill 58+ and wound 500+ others from a 31-story room window, 2000 ft. away, with a 6 shooter......so, why wouldn't he have used that instead?

I don't think anyone could do that. If it was me I would just have bought a fully automatic off the black market.
Oh wait I forgot that would be illegal. Guess i'll just have to learn to deal with my anger some other way. Good thing those automatic rifles are illegal or else I might have been able to hurt a lot of people.

They say in LV it’s legal to walk around with a machine gun on your hip

www.huffingtonpost.com...

That means people are allowed to walk down the Las Vegas Strip with a military-style rifle slung over their shoulder, although casinos and other private businesses can bar those individuals from their premises.

Maybe people are unfamiliar with statistical analysis. Considering how many guns we have and how many people own, we should have the highest gun homicide rate by far. We don't. This indicates guns are not the problem.

The funny thing is some people buy a 22 because they say they don't want to hurt people but the thing is getting shot by a 22 is a slow painful death.

We've done that too. It basically went, "Define mental illness and who..." More obfuscation and the issue remains unresolved. Well, it boils down to, "Leave our F'n guns alone no matter what." I'm cool with that. Just admit it. And while you're at it admit that the casualties don't matter as long as your "right" isn't violated.

Okay since you are Canadian I get the contempt that you hold for US folks, hell thats your opinion. You are welcome to it. But remember that when you get into a conversation about rights in the US you will get hammered for it from those of us who are citizens of the US. SO bite down here it comes. The mental health aspect of this debate has been ongoing, you do realize that the mental health system does what it does for the "rights" of the individual? SO even a person who is a danger to society has a very high chance of being out on the streets again in a few months. Don't go all indignant about gun owners protecting their rights! There is a responsibility in being a gun owner and lots hassle that go in to it. How more regulated does it need to be? Adding regulations that have no effect on the issues is nothing more than politicians grand-standing about "how they did something". The mental health debate has the same problem, lots of feel good measures by the people who write the laws but very little positive affect. If you are not willing to trudge into the morass that is rights of the individual vs society [with the awareness that taking rights away from one group just gives justification for taking away other rights], all you are doing is adding to the problem by giving politicians more reason to tinker with things they barely understand.

Can’t agree more.

Guns and cars don’t kill people. People kill people with them.

Maybe we should ban hammers, knives and baseball bats too?

Maybe it’s me, this doesn’t seem hard to understand.

It's not hard to understand, but some people need cheap votes and donations so, ya know, gotta find a boogeyman.

Some of 'em are even here on ATS...

the dude had a fully automatic firearm of some sort... the kind of assault rifle your average person can get only shoots one bullet for each time the trigger is pulled,

its not like anyone can just go to the gun store and buy a fully automatic firearm.. a normal assault rifle available to the general public is not really any different than your average hunting rifle, they just look more high tech is all.
