Use Google.

He was in Malibu.

I know that. I was taking a dig at the lengths to which some folks on here go to connect completely unrelated events.

Tom Petty was just found unconscious. He is described by some sources as a "country rock" artist. This shooting was at a country concert. It must be related, right guys?

Seriously, hope Petty is ok.

No man, you can't just do that!

Don't just dismiss people's concerns and suggestions, that is particularly weak. You were doing so well, giving your knowledge, then you go and do that?

Update on my friend who was shot in the leg, she is stable and doing well. She credits a stranger, a young man who helped save her life.

Another friend of mine who was there, swears there were multiple shooters. Her sister has some crazy scary footage posted on facebook as well.

So sorry for the lives lost and changed forever from this horrific situation.

Prayers for a speedy recovery.

Mr. Paddock spent several years living in Mesquite, Tex., an eastern suburb of Dallas. From 2004 and 2012, Mr. Paddock was associated with several properties in the city and had a Texas driver’s license that has now expired, according to a spokesman for the Mesquite police department.

So Stephen Paddock lived in BOTH Mesquite, Nevada AND Mesquite, Texas??? More suspicions...

I've only gotten as far as EternalShadow's post and want to join him in calling for reflection upon the immediate events both at the scene and her on ATS.

If you ever been in an emergency event of any kind you know that 'reaction' and 'speculation' - both quite natural - rule the first minutes or even hours. Only after disparate reports are collated can sense be made.

I'm just hearing of this event.

What I am finding interesting and worthy of note is the following:

The hotel

Paddock had been staying at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas since last Thursday. Authorities said it appears he fired guns from his 32nd floor room into the crowd at the Route 91 Harvest music festival on Sunday night, killing at least 58 people. More than 500 others were hurt in the shooting and subsequent stampede.

Authorities believe Paddock had a device similar to a hammer to smash the hotel windows prior to the shooting, Lombardo said.

Officials think Paddock brought the weapons into the hotel by himself but did not provide specifics.

Hotel employees had been in the his room prior to the shooting but did not notice anything amiss, Lombardo said.

His guns

Paddock had bought multiple firearms in the past, several of them purchased in California, a law enforcement official told CNN. But those don't appear to be among the 10 or more guns found in the Mandalay Bay hotel room.

The suspicion, based on initial reports, is that any of the rifles used were altered to function as an automatic weapon, the official said. Among the weapons found were a .223 caliber and a .308 caliber.

So far investigators believe the firearms were purchased legally.

www.cnn.com...

I find the first yellowed quote an interesting detail that would imply prior planning.

The second, makes me wonder - why he wouldn't (if preplaned) use weapons that he was familiar with for the shooting.

I originally said that it might be echoes that were heard, but listening again... it sounds like the cyclic rate is different between the two different sets of sounds. That would indicate two different weapons.

Shooter had reported 10 weapons with him

I've heard that were different calibers, 223 (5.56 mm) and 308 (7.62 mm)

Different weapons, in different calibers account for sounds

And possible...

2 shooters ...unless he's walking through the crowds one on each hand....which wouldn't be impossible...but extremely not likely

Yes.
If you ever heard a Ma Deuce firing, the cyclic rate is much slower (noticeably so) than a SAW. That is the speed at which the action cycles and fires a round.
I heard what sounded like two different weapons firing and overlapping, meaning that the shooter had auto weapons in each hand firing simultaneously (unlikely, but not impossible) or that there was more than one person shooting.

Last thing I saw (a few minutes ago) was a tweet that said 10+...No actual number, but greater than 10.

The article states:

The suspect is believed to have checked into the hotel on Sept. 28, Lombardo said, and had an "excess of 10 rifles" in his room.

What are you even trying to say here? That there was a shooter in the crowd at the concert?

Thanks for the detailed response. Your point is though that there is no proof of auto weapons and then you say this:

That distance is about 300 yards from what they say on the TV. I can confirm that more or less as I have been through that area on a couple of occasions. At 300 yards the potential rifles he could have used (an AR or AK) are still going to be traveling between 2500 and 3000 feet per second.

Aren't they automatic weapons?

No they are not automatic weapons....99.9% in public hands are all semi auto.

True.....

But one of them definitely sounded like full auto, not 3 shot

SOunded like a M-249. the rate of fire and the length of fire was way over a 30 round clip of a full auto rifle. there was s slight pause as the man reloaded and changed out the SAWs barrel and reloaded. Its fits th etime taken to change out a fresh barrel and fresh belt.

Anyone that can log into LinkedIn should check it for "Steve Paddock". Call it a hunch.

That profile if it ever existed will be long deleted.
There are 34 results by the way - none that look like the shooter OR the NASA guy in your follow-up article.

Just heard one of my daughter's girlfriends was at the concert last night with her boyfriend.
She is okay, but her BF is still missing.

Let's expect and hope for the best outcome, eh?

Fingers crossed here.

Thanks.
No new news yet.

My son is also scheduled to go there next week with his girlfriend.
I actually recommended Mandalay Bay to him, as I often stay there.

Unrelated but since I mentioned it earlier, they're saying Tom Petty is brain dead, taking him off life support.

That sucks.

Mesquite is a family of trees native to the Mojave. Makes the best smoked seasoning the wood does.

He might have been getting even for the pitmasters catering the event stealing his secret BBQ sauce. YOu dont mess with a mans BBQ sauce!!
